WRUP: The first annual WRUP caption contest

WRUP

Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as: WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!

Why hello, everyone! Happy weekend to you all! I mean, it's almost the weekend, right? The time to spend an hour expertly styling your hair, dress in a mask, and leer at some acrobat dude who's not wearing a shirt. Oh, wait. No. That was last weekend.

Anyway, my friend Michele Morrow needed a little bit of a break from her The Fourth Hour hosting duties this week. She's got a sick cat, you see, and a flooded apartment. So we needed some lovely bit of filler for WRUP. (Filler?! In WRUP?! Can you believe such a thing?!)

Adam Holisky suggested I take that terrible picture of myself and open it up to a caption contest. Winner gets to attend a live taping of The Fourth Hour. Airfare, hotel, meals definitely not included. TFH has a budget of $0, thank you very much. And while you're entering that non-binding fake contest, be sure to let us know what you're playing this weekend. Because that's just how WRUP rolls.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm playing the "Look at all this stuff we have. Where can we put this stuff? How about we get rid of this stuff? What do you mean you don't want to get rid of it? You haven't touched it in 10 years at least!" game. It's a game of eternal frustration, and the only loot involved is more space to put more stuff. ... Now that I think about it, it's a lot like looking at my bank and void storage in WoW. Oops? Anyway, little bit of beta, little bit of WoW, little bit of Diablo III if I get the time, and a whole lot of writing this weekend, mostly.

Chase Christian (@madsushi) My friend @matticus was nice enough to score me a DotA 2 invite, so I'll be frustrating my teammates by picking poorly and failing to defend my lane against even the slightest of pushes!

Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) Probably spending more time trying to pick which game I want to play than actually playing. I'll likely pick Xenoblade Chronicles back up for a bit, though.

Daniel Desmond (@Antigen_) Well, I was going to do the ME3 Multiplayer weekend operation, but they postponed that. Then I was going to play whatever games I got on the Steam summer sale, but they seem to have skipped that this year. So, I guess I'll be tooling around in the Mists of Pandaria beta, maybe. Also tempted to check out The Secret World. Of course, I also need to research electronics. I want to get a new smartphone soon, and I'm considering grabbing a Nexus 7 or a used iPad 2.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I'm actually not sure what I'll play. Maybe some ME3 multiplayer. Some Mists of Pandaria beta, certainly. I've also been meaning to replay Bastion because I love it so much, so I may do that.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm boring and will be continuing to play my mod-enhanced Skyrim. Maybe a little WoW, if i get tired of killing bandits or can't figure out what's causing the game to crash when I try to enter Understone Keep in Markarth.

Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) Unfortunately, Michele Morrow wasn't able to record The Fourth Hour last week on account of her sick cat (get well soon!) and her flooded apartment. But hopefully, we'll find some time to hang out.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) More beta, ranked 5v5 games in League of Legends and The Secret World. Figure that should keep me plenty busy this weekend.

Lisa Poisso (@LisaPoisso) After a really chill and geeked-out Fourth of July gathering, there seems to be momentum gathering for a regular Magic: The Gathering session on Saturdays before the pen-and-paper games that happen at Maison Poisso. In fact, I am being called away from the computer to create a new deck right now! That plus the fact that we just came home from the library with stacks and stacks of new books (and I've restarted my regular lunchtime date with my Kindle), and I have no earthly idea when I'm going to find time for WoW this weekend.

Matt Rossi (@matthewwrossi) I have no idea. I need to catch up on sleep and maybe play the new Mass Effect 3 ending. I'd like to play some Pathfinder, but I'll probably just read the books again.

Matt Low (@matticus) I'm probably going to not play anything. I bought this Mistborn trilogy due to overwhelming recommendations. Haven't been able to dive into it yet.

Megan O'Neill (@slowpoker) Beta dungeons, a raid if I can get into one, or leveling a beta 'lock. Some D3 barbarian antics. Finishing my book (Ghosts of Ascalon), starting the other one (Edge of Destiny), and figuring out whether I want to preorder Guild Wars 2 (probably yes). And writing/organizing a ton of MoP warlock things.

Michael Gray (@writegray) The last weekend before my mother-in-law is in town for the birth, I think I'm going to spend some time on the Appalachian Trail and probably grab a couple microbrews. Shark Dash is my most recent addiction.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) More beta levelling, I suspect! I have been exceptionally lazy at this simply because I find myself almost unable to turn down invitations to do Arenas! So realistically, probably Arenas.

Robin Torres (@cosmicgeek) More board games with The Spawn in the pink cast.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
