The Walking Dead retail version delayed to December 11

The Walking Dead retail version delayed to December 11

The Walking Dead retail version has been pushed back a week in North America, now scheduled to launch on December 11. The standard and collector's editions were originally slated to hit in physical form on December 4. We assume the undead don't shuffle as quickly as Telltale originally thought.

The standard edition includes all five episodes on-disc for $30, while the collector's edition runs $70 and features the full game along with the first 48 issues of the comic in an exclusive version of The Walking Dead Compendium One, all wrapped up in a special box.

The Walking Dead will be available at all participating retail locations for PS3 and Xbox 360, but the PC version is sold only at Best Buy.

The Walking Dead Release Date Confirmed for North American Retail!

Digital hit available to buy on disc for the first time - December 11th

Today we're announcing that The Walking Dead will be available to purchase on disc from retailers in the United States and Canada this December 11th. Previously only available as a digital download, the series will now be available on disc for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

The retail edition of The Walking Dead compiles all five episodes of the game series for the suggested price of $29.99. We've been thrilled and honored by the way that the game has been received including the six nominations in the upcoming Spike TV Video Game Awards, and four nominations from Machinima.com's Inside Gaming annual awards; the series has been nominated for Game of The Year by both Spike and Machinima!

Most reviews for the game to date have been for individual episodes, but now we are seeing reviews for the season as a whole – which is how owners of the retail disc will experience it.
Games Radar gave the season a perfect 5 out of 5 score, declaring that The Walking Dead is "...one of the most memorable gameplay experiences ever created ," while gaming website Giant Bomb also gave the season a perfect 5 out of 5 score, saying, "It is an immaculately paced, painfully affecting story featuring some of the most lovingly crafted characters ever to appear in a video game. From the very beginning, The Walking Dead sinks its teeth in and never lets you go."

Digital Trends awarded the season their very first 10 out of 10 score, saying the experience was, "...one that will stick with us for years, and likely be remembered as one of the quintessential games of this generation," also adding, "It is dark and often disturbing, and beautiful and heartbreaking. It is an important game, and will be remembered for what it is: a masterpiece."

There are just a few days left to pre-order strictly limited Collector's Edition bundle for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ( suggested price of $69.99) exclusively from Gamestop. It includes an exclusive edition of The Walking Dead Compendium One: over 1,000 pages of Robert Kirkman's original comic book, collecting the first 48 issues of Rick Grimes' story. Best Buy stores will have a Limited Edition cover variant for all platforms, along with an exclusive poster insert. Best Buy is also the only place you can buy the game on disc for PC.

Disc-based retail versions of The Walking Dead will be announced for territories outside of North America soon.

The praise that the series has received has simply blown us away and as always, we really can't thank you enough for your interest and support. We look forward to revealing our plans for Season Two next year!
