WRUP: Mature science fiction edition

Next week, a cautionary tale about how robots ruin everything or whatever.

Harold and Dana went for a walk outside. While they were walking, Harold noticed a large number of leaves collected on stone steps which had not been replaced with robotic future ultra-steps, causing him to briefly reflect on the nature of the human experience while surrounded by advanced technology. Later, he would relate this experience to someone while he was in the process of dying to save a spaceship for poorly explained reasons, possibly while making an allusion to poetry from the 19th century.

While I wait for my Hugo award, you all can read this week's installment of WRUP just past the break, in which Massively's writers share our plans for the weekend in terms of gaming. Oh, and you can let us know your plans for the weekend down in the comments, too. Please, no musings on the relative scale of individual human beings compared to the entire universe.

@PsykopigAU: This weekend is being overgrown with some ramped up EVE Online action. I'll also be drooling over The Elder Scrolls Online while I play a little Guild Wars 2 and throw in some more Blood Bowl action. No guts, no glory!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Only a week to wait for my Final Fantasy XIV fix. I suppose I'll split the difference with my slowly progressing playthrough of the series. And maybe some Star Wars: The Old Republic. That doesn't actually have anything to do with FFXIV, there's just a new patch out.

@irljasmine: I'm in the home stretch of RIFT leveling! This means I'll be spending this weekend fighting my way through level 58 and mentally preparing myself for level 59. Then one day in the distant future, when we all drive to work in hover cars and 3D print cheeseburgers in our kitchen, I'll begin approaching level 60.

@Sypster: Two big patches are dominating my interest this week. I wouldn't mind spending time with my Bounty Hunter in Star Wars: The Old Republic as she's getting to know her new Ewok companion and attempting to find a ship. Then there's the Queen's Jubilee in Guild Wars 2 which I'm hearing no end of good things regarding. So I'll probably ping-pong between those titles.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: My plan this weekend is to watch The International Dota 2 tournament (go Alliance!) and maybe tag in on a few matches myself. I'm also reliving the joy that is Wrath of the Lich King content, as my sister has finally made it to Northrend with the character she's been playing since The Burning Crusade came out (she's easily distracted). I imagine we'll get her to 90 just about when Blizzard shuts down World of Warcraft's servers in 2043.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I am so excited for the chance to finally game again after spending all last weekend talking about, hearing about, and writing about games, but never getting to play. I have hopes of finishing up some Tinkerfest activities in EverQuest II. I also need to prioritize my decorating projects there and jump in on one of them. My friend just started a Gunslinger in Aion, so we'll be prowling the lowbie lands together. I also hope to get in some The Secret World time; I've been gone long enough I feel rusty.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend, I'll be flying in hot air balloons, battling watchknights blanketed in illusions, and trying my hand in solo combat in steel cage matches. Oh, you wanted to know about my video game activities? I'll be playing Guild Wars 2.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
