The Queue: Bound for the stars

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Mike Sacco will be your host today.

I've been playing the Starbound beta and having a blaaaast. It's on Steam right now!

DanielMitchell asked:

Is the lack of a new race or class for WoD feel like a letdown? There's so many options in the existing game world. The only thing I would see as a downside would be so many players using their instant 90 on the new race/class. Still waiting for the "massive races": Ogre for Horde and Vrykul for Alliance.

I'm sure there are others who feel differently, but I've been waiting for new character models for what feels like forever, so I'm perfectly happy with "only" getting those instead of a new race. As for classes, there are already so many. It's hard to keep carving out new niches, especially when you can't make them too niche-y. I think new models and no new class was the right call.

StevenNomiddlenameRaposo asked:

A very Important WoW movie question... How do you people want your green skins CGI, like the lord of the ring franchise,... OR classic prosthetic/ latex masks and Muppet style puppetry (dark crystal), or a mix?

We're getting a bit of both, according to what we know so far. The actors will be enhanced by CGI.

hortonsal asked:

Was reading the Robert Kazinsky article and it got me thinking. Did /played start in Vanilla? I'm a Wrath baby and I'm sure my /played is scary, but people who started in Vanilla could really have some time in. Just curious if it was an added "feature".

It's been in for as long as I can remember. I recall using it a few months after launch, at least.

RikOsborne asked:

Was there ever a DMF tabard in the game, available to players? I'm positive I've seen one for sale, but when I went looking for it after I finally hit Exalted with the DMF last month, I couldn't find one anywhere. Wowhead also doesn't seem to have any evidence of a DMF tabard ever existing.

Nope, as of right now there isn't one.

ralos asked:

Why won't blizzard give us legacy servers!? We have all this old content just sitting there collecting dust! I mean if they are going make us wait 9-10 months betwen SoO and WoD! Come on I'd love to finish all the Vanilla raids I never got a chance to do! So do you think it will ever happen?! Opening a server that starts where WoW started and follows a similar path (no new features added or nerfs)

Blizzard doesn't usually say "this will never happen", but they pretty clearly said this will never happen. There have been so many improvements to the quality of the game over time that it isn't just about "well we just do Molten Core at its original difficulty, what's so hard about that" -- it's also about things like ability scaling, stat changes, feature additions, and lots more. How do you pick and choose which improvements go in and which don't? Do you really want to play that miserable game?

Also, it wouldn't make any money.
