WRUP: A gift for a leader

'tis the season to be merry. And while one hopes that the majority of that merry comes from family and companionship, there's more than a little gift giving that takes place. And so while we asked our intrepid WoW Insider staff what they're playing this weekend, we also asked what gifts they would bequeath unto their beloved faction leaders. After all, Varian and Vol'jin are both rather grumpy folks. Maybe a little thinking-of-you would perk them up!

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'll be working on er, setting up the Christmas tree this weekend. Yes, I know it's ridiculously late. Beyond that, probably working on leveling my priest alt - I don't think we're raiding next week due to the holidays, so it seems like a good time to finish getting her up to level 90. Bonus answer: In an entirely unrealistic world I'd find a way to First Home and get a plant from there to give to Vol'jin because that seems like it'd be a good idea. And I'd get Varian a puppy, because Anduin is rapidly growing out of the sweet little kid phase and I think Varian still needs something he can nurture.

Allison Robert (@AllisonRobert) I probably won't be playing much this weekend. Housecleaning, the Best of WI series, and a housewarming are likely to eat up a lot of time. If I do get the chance to log on, I'll probably only get the chance to valor-cap on my druid. As for Vol'jin and Varian, who doesn't love really good socks? Seriously, they'll change your life

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I will be playing Starbound. Right now I'm focused on finding Matter Blocks so I can craft some Makeshift armor, but my big goal is to build a giant treehouse village and populate it with my loyal Avian heretic subjects. I may also play my Floran alt because Florans are cute as heck.

For the bonus question, Vol'jin would get a book on diplomacy, with a bookmark in the chapter that tells you not to threaten to turn potential allies into zombies, especially if you need their help against an enemy who has you on the ropes. For Varian, I'd get the same book, but this time the bookmark would be in the chapter about letting your allies lead their own people and make their own decisions, while still keeping them in the loop about military and political matters that could affect your entire alliance.

Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) I'm figuring out how to gear up my new monk... and probably doing Christmas stuff, too!

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I am really, really going to attempt to get back into WoW. I lost everything on my computer in a recent crash, and the thought of resetting up my addons fills me with fear. I think I would like to use http://www.curse.com/addon-packs/wow/ultimate-raid-and-leveling-5569?page=3 but it's apparently a nightmare to set up without the WTF file, and their link is broken. So that would be a nice Winter Veil gift for me. HINT.

If not that, I'm almost done with Assassin's Creed 2 and am on my second Borderlands 2 play through, so I'd love to pick up something at the Steam sale.

I'm going to give Vol'jin a nice mirror so he can watch his back.

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) actually spending time in Rogue Legacy and Risk of Rain as well as some more Warmachine / Hordes. TROLLBLOODS MUST PREVAIL! FOR KITH AND KRIEL!

As far as giving a gift, well I'm a panda IRL, so the only answer is beer!

Kristin Marshall (@kristin) I'm planning on going back to ToT to grab some achievements this weekend. Other than that, my raid team is on break until January! I guess I could get some alt leveling in... or something. I may feel lost without raiding for a few weeks. Bonus: I'd give Vol'jin a pedicure gift certificate and Varian a stress ball.

Matt "Matticus" Low (@matticus) Probably Hearthstone. Need to climb the ranks up some more. But for those moments where I get too mad to play, I like to engage in a little Train Simulator 2014. It has quite a calming effect. You know, until you get to those stations where those people on the platform won't move aside for the people on the train to actually get off. Grrr...

I'd get Varian some hair ties. Maybe toothpicks for Vol'jin.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) I'm gonna play Diablo 3. Might also play whatever game I end up getting for the holiday.

I'd give Varian Ashkandi and Vol'jin a qualified dentist.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I'm heading back to cold rainy England on Monday, so I'll be packing and generally being sad to leave California. Probably beer, not much gaming! And I'd give Varian a poisoned chalice. Vol'jin too. Blizzard needs the guts to kill off more major lore characters.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) I'll be up to some Christmas fun both in and out of game. Bonus: I'd give Vol'jin a back brace to improve his posture.
