Scosche intros BoomBottle, thinks you'll prefer sound over water during bike rides

Looks like Braven's BRV-1 ruggedized Bluetooth speaker just got some competition out of CES. Scosche has unveiled its BoomBottle speaker, which is indeed similar in form to your average water bottle -- perfect if you don't actually use that H2O holder on your bike or bag. This IPX4-rated "splash-proof" system lasts about 10 hours per charge, pumping out sound through two 40mm drivers and a passive bass unit. The BoomBottle is covered in rubber and TPU to handle light impacts, and houses a 3.5mm input if you don't want to stream over Bluetooth. No word on pricing or availability just yet, but you can also read about it and the also announced RH1060 "reference-grade" Bluetooth headphones in the press release after the break.

LAS VEGAS – January 8th, 2013– Unveiled at CES 2013, boomBOTTLE is a wireless omnidirectional outdoor speaker with weatherproof housing, designed to fit in most water bottle cages for streaming music while biking, hiking, camping and more. The one of a kind speaker was designed with a durable, non-slip and shock proof TPU exterior, strong enough to withstand drops or vibrations caused from rough terrain riding. The large rubberized buttons make it easy to skip tracks and adjust volume even during active use.

The IP4X rated splash proof casing protects boomBOTTLE from unexpected weather, sweat and other moisture. A top flap opens to reveal safely hidden charging and audio ports.

The easily portable boomBOTTLE also makes for a great media speaker in the gym, garage or dorm room. It delivers the same impressive acoustics when playing movies, TV shows, or games on a connected mobile device.

The dynamic speaker also includes a built-in microphone, for use as an enhanced speakerphone, capable of delivering crisp, clear echo-free phone conversations. A 3.5mm auxiliary input is also included for use with non-Bluetooth enabled devices.

LAS VEGAS – January 8th, 2013 – Scosche unveiled the RH1060 Reference Grade Bluetooth Headphones today at the 2013 International CES. The new Bluetooth model adds a wireless option to Scosche's award winning line of reference grade headphones, that were named an iLounge 2012 Best of the Year Award winner for beating "Dre (of Beats by Dr. Dre) at his own game with great-sounding, sharp-looking headphones."

The newest over-ear model from Scosche features the company's proprietary headphone design that utilizes 40mm drivers made from rare-earth neodymium magnets and precision wound copper voice coiling to create an incredibly accurate musical reproduction. A ported sound chamber provides the exact air space necessary for optimal component performance.

The Bluetooth headphones have a wireless range of up to 33 feet. RH1060 users can change tracks, adjust volume and play/pause from the embedded controls on the right speaker or use the built-in mic for voice control.
