Leaderboard: Lord of the Rings Online vs. Star Trek Online

Jef Reahard

IP-based MMOs are both a blessing and a curse. On the one hand, if they're done right they can be a gateway to the genre for those unfamiliar with MMOs as well as a fresh focal point for dedicated IP fans. On the other hand, IP-based games can take disastrous liberties with their source material that make for an off-putting experience. In some cases, they can also simply be bad games.

For today's Leaderboard we're pitting a couple of genre heavyweights against one another to see which proves more popular. Lord of the Rings Online and Star Trek Online aren't the only IP-based MMOs out there, but they've both been around for a while and are both reasonably successful. Which do you think does a better job of translating its source material into a fun MMO? Vote after the cut!

Ever wish that you could put to rest a long-standing MMO debate once and for all? Then welcome to the battle royal of Massively's Leaderboard, where two sides enter the pit o' judgment -- and only one leaves. Vote to make your opinion known, and see whether your choice tops the Leaderboard!
