WRUP: Cast the Warcraft movie, again

WRUP Cast the Warcraft movie, again

This week the Warcraft movie secured itself a new director after losing Sam Raimi last year. The new director will be Duncan Jones, the director of Moon and Source Code, who had expressed an interest at directing the film while Sam Raimi was still attached to the project. Personally, I'm happy to see Jones taking on the project ... Not because I love Jones (he's fine) but because I was worried an adaption by Sam Raimi would be too lighthearted for my tastes. If I had it my way every film would be directed by Christopher Nolan.

So now that we have a director, let's write up our dream cast list again. For those of you who have been reading WoW Insider a long time, you'll know I already wrote mine a couple of years ago, so now it's your turn to take a stab at it.

Oh yeah, and what are you playing this weekend? Pfft, just tell us your dream cast list! It's way more fun.

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm currently trying to resist purchasing The Cave on Steam. We'll see if that holds out over the weekend or not. Other than that, a little raiding and a whole lot of writing.

Bonus question: Man I have no idea, but if they don't at least consider Michele Morrow (@michelemorrow) as Sylvanas I am going to be a little sad.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) I was thinking about finishing Torchlight 2 this weekend -- I just need to decide if I want to play my engineer or try to play catch-up with my berserker.

I'm not really a big movie buff, so as long as the Warcraft movie isn't CGI, I think I'll be happy.

Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I have a pretty busy weekend, so not much gaming in store for me. I'll probably hop on Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer for a few rounds though, at least long enough to finish Operation: Firestorm. If I have extra time, I may level my hunter a bit.

Personally, I'd like something set in the past. I'm thinking Idris Elba as Turalyon. Zoe Saldana as Alleria. Alan Rickman as Lord Daval Prestor/Deathwing. Patrick Stewart as King Llane. Kenneth Branaugh as Anduin Lothar.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) I'll be doing dailies, raiding, and watching the Super Bowl.

I would probably make a few changes to my original cast list. I could see some newer faces in Hollywood snagging up some good roles. Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Stone are both up and coming, though they both look really young so I'm not sure who they could play at this point. Chris Hemsworth could probably snag Arthas if there was a need (he's already got the wavy blond hair and all). Jake Gyllenhaal would do a great young Medivh. I've got a new soft spot for Rooney Mara after Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, so I'd love to see her play something, like Tyrande or Azshara.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm working nights, so if the God of EMS provides, I might be able to hit 90 on my shaman and start on the Tillers with her.

As for the movie ... Michael Shannon as Garrosh?

Joe Perez (@lodurzj) Painting painting painting painting painting painting. Also leveling my horde hunter to 90. Two levels to go!

Bonus question: Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Prince Anduin.

Lisa Poisso (@LisaPoisso) Working on some transmog pieces this weekend.

Bonus question: Hodor.

Matt Low (@Matticus) Leveling my maaaaaage! I foresee not much gaming on the weekend on the horizon. It should be a quiet weekend. Want to spend some time doing some reading and researching guild related stuff.

Bonus question: We don't actually have any idea of what the storyline will be or the main characters involved. I don't think the story should revolve around any of the main storylines that have been covered in any of the games. It should be something original or a historical aspect within the game. I'd like to see something involving Turalyon and Alleria, but no one knows what's happened to them. It's going to be tough to come up with a fantasy cast list. But for Jaina, I'd pick Anna Paquin. Gerard Butler for a younger Varian.

Matt Rossi (@MattWRossi) No idea what I'm gonna do this weekend - I was thinking about working on something involving pole shift theories (which are bunk, but fun bunk) and Atlantis.

I want the Warcraft movie to be filmed in 1950.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Going to play some WoW this weekend. I'm feeling a really strong urge to finally get Skyward Sword and play that. Have a major Zelda itch right now.

I would love to see some incarnation of Michael Hogan playing Varok Saurfang.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) Writing sleeping tanking healing leveling arenaing thinking tidying gardening burning.

Bonus question: Mickey Rourke as Garrosh.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play

World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
