WRUP: Hyena jinx edition

It's not symbolic. It's aboyt hyenas.

Let's play a fun game I like to call hyena jinx! Are you excited? You're playing whether you want to or not. Here's how it works. You see those hyenas up there? They're going to follow you around and listen for you to say something. The sign that you've said the wrong thing by mistake will be one of the hyenas chewing your legs off while the other one wrecks your computer and car.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the things you're supposed to avoid are almost indistinguishable from things that you can do at will. Have fun with the hyenas!

I will tell you that reading this week's installment of WRUP will not result in unpleasant hyena-related events. It'll just let you know what we on the Massively staff will be up to over the weekend. So go ahead and read that, and then let us know what you'll be up to down in the comments. Beware of potential hyena triggers.

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief

@nbrianna: I'll probably be puttering around in Skyrim, Guild Wars 2, and Planets Under Attack, the last of which is my new favorite laptop thing.

David Desi, Multimedia Contributor

@PsykopigAU: I'm slowly rediscovering my love for Guild Wars 2! It's a surprisingly easy MMO to pick up after some time away, even with old characters that are almost level 80.

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Star Trek Online is the main game in my rotation due to my ongoing Choose My Adventure antics. I've also got my preparations for PAX East 2013 to finish up and some other real-life nonsense, so that should have me more or less set.

Jasmine Hruschak, Multimedia Contributor

@irljasmine: During the day I'll be pocketing valor in World of Warcraft, and once night falls I'll be shaking in fear with Fatal Frame 2. I have yet to find a game that strikes terror into my heart quite as effectively as any one of the Fatal Frame series. Lights get turned off, blankets get huddled up in, and screams get produced that could have us evicted. The eviction thing has only happened once though, so it's fine.

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor

@Sypster: My big push this week is to wrap up my Engineer's personal story in Guild Wars 2 and move on to an alt. Then comes the big question: Which class should I pick? I've been leaning toward a Necromancer, although the Ranger is becoming a tempting option. Apart from that, I've got the new issue of The Secret World to explore (yay whips!) and a level 40 Lore-master in Lord of the Rings Online to level up.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: I'll be playing WoW, of course, and jumping in on some Super Mario RPG. If I have time I'll probably try some more Tomb Raider exploration; I finished the game so the island is all peaceful-like.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: Issue #6 is out in The Secret World, so I am all over Egypt! Hopefully, not as blood spatters, just lots of time playing in the sand. I have also somehow managed to reopen my Star Wars: The Old Republic account (accidents happen) and will be soaking up a little double XP. As if that weren't enough, I have mucho Brewday quests in EverQuest II demanding my attention if I want to acquire a herd of pink elephants.

Patrick Mackey, League of Legends and Age of Wushu Columnist

@mackeypb: I'm playing the same things. League of Legends, Age of Wushu, and Guild Wars 2, but I also have been playing a little Torchlight 2 with my girlfriend. I'd love to do more of that, but she's been really busy. I'll have to console myself with losing more LoL games.

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: I'm hoping to get some video game time in this weekend, but it may just be a foolish wish. If I do get my druthers, however, I will be playing some Tomb Raider and getting some world boss kills in Guild Wars 2.

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist

@terilynns: I really hope to be meeting up with some fleetmates in Star Trek Online this weekend; I need to earn a few fleet marks. I also have a level 56 hunter in Lord of the Rings Online that just made it out of The Fanged Pit and is now wallowing in The Water Works. I didn't realize Moria would be so... huge!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
