WRUP: Submarines are the ultimate fishing boats edition

Eliot Lefebvre

Look, a submarine is a terrible war vehicle. Submarines are underwater and boats are above the water. There's nothing to shoot at except for other submarines. And Captain Nemo, but he's usually busy with giant squid-related shenanigans. But there are a lot of fish under the water, and since fish are dumb they'll think the submarine is just another fish.

We should just be using all the submarines to catch all of the fish, and then we'll re-fish the oceans with all of the fish bones. Fish work like plants, right?

I'm going to be pretty busy getting the first underwater fishing company going, but you can entertain yourselves for the rest of the day by reading this week's WRUP, all about the Massively staff's plans for the weekend. Oh, and you can let us know what you'll be up to yourself down in the comments. Hopefully you'll be getting ready for delicious fish yanked straight out of the water in what I'm dubbing the Fishermarine.

Beau Hindman, F2P and Mobile Columnist
@Beau_Hindman: This weekend I am moving on to Scarlet Blade for Rise and Shiny. So far, it's impressive in some areas, utterly offensive and completely stupid in others. What a trip. I'll also be enjoying some Champions Online and trying out more Age of Conan. Plus, crafting in A Mystical Land. A full weekend, but I have a ton to cover.

Bree Royce, Editor-in-Chief
@nbrianna: Probably Guild Wars 2. I just rolled a new Mesmer and am finally enjoying the class. Beyond that, I dunno. I've been eyeing Path of Exile and World of Warcraft again. Space demons in pandaland amuse me.

David Desi, Multimedia Contributor
@PsykopigAU: I'm rocking some Guild Wars 2 again, making it sing with my powers of pigliness. I'll also be finishing off some sweet, sweet BioShock Infinite!

Eliot Lefebvre, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor
@Eliot_Lefebvre: It's time to keep playing Star Trek Online and finish up some preparations for expansion in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Aside from that, I spent a lot of money on board games at PAX East (buying up every Ascension set will lead to that), so I'm hoping to spend some time on the tabletop.

Elisabeth Cardy, Guild Wars 2 Columnist and Contributing Editor
@elixabethclaire: I'm going to play Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2. And, I don't know, maybe Torchlight II? Solitaire? Sudoku?

Jasmine Hruschak, Multimedia Contributor
@irljasmine: This weekend is one of those that sneaks up on you, waits until Friday, then jumps out and yells, "SURPRISE!" But instead of a birthday cake, you get eighty new things on your "to do" list. So I'll be clutching my smartphone and using my precious limited downtime on mobile games. I've gotten back into Draw Something and I'm making good use out of my miniature rhinestoned stylus. If you would like to see why I dropped out of art school, hit me up on Twitter and I will craft you a Draw Something masterpiece.

Jef Reahard, Managing Editor and Columnist Extraordinaire@jefreahard: I'm dabbling all over the place. I'll probably spend the most time in SWTOR, The Secret World, and Oblivion (for the third or fourth time, I forget).

Justin Olivetti, Columnist Extraordinaire and Senior Contributing Editor
@Sypster: You know what? I don't know what I'll be playing. There's a good chance I'll be rolling my first alt in Guild Wars 2 soon, a good chance I will be pushing level 45 on my Lore-master in Lord of the Rings Online, a good chance I'll be kicking vampire butt in The Secret World, and even a good chance I'll be back in Fallen Earth. But who knows? Only the Shadow knows.

Matt Daniel, Contributing Editor
@mvmatt: Inspired by Shawn's response, I think I'm going to dip back into Planetside 2 for a good-ol'-fashioned manshoot. Aside from that, I'm checking out Final Fantasy XI for my next Second Wind, so that will probably comprise the majority of my gaming time this weekend, which is already sadly limited due to the necessity of travelling back to my homeland of Florida from frigid Maryland.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor
@MJ_Guthrie: I am unsure I will have recovered from GDC enough to play anything (and that's not even counting the long flight home). If (and that's a big if) I manage to log in anything, I''d like to pop into The Secret World and test out the weapons I acquired during the Mayan event but haven't been able to equip until now. Finally, the ancient power is mine!

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor
@RichieProcopio: This weekend I will be playing Guild Wars 2 and gathering coins from jumping puzzle in preparation for some rumored April Fool's Day shenanigans. I also hope to spend some time playing Tomb Raider, which I got a few weeks ago and only played a bit of.

Shawn Schuster, Senior Editor
@Epykbeard: I've rediscovered PlanetSide 2 last week and am kicking myself for ever taking a hiatus after launch. Still enjoying Guild Wars 2 with my one-night-a-week static group, and I'm downloading Sniper Elite V2 as I type this. Other recommendations on favorite stealth/sniper games are welcome.

Terilynn Shull, Star Trek Online Columnist
@terilynns: Little birds-of-prey informed me that some of the new Legacy of Romulus UI material has been pushed to the Tribble test server in Star Trek Online. I plan on spending much of my time checking out what's there and helping find the bugs as well as seeing what other material might be in there!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
