WRUP: Anticipating patch 5.3
We finally know that patch 5.3 is right around the corner. Biting our fingernails and virtually panting with excitement, everyone at WoW Insider headquarters looks forward to the release with summery exultation.
So obviously, we asked our staff about more than just their weekend plans. We asked what each member is excited about in the new patch. The good, the bad, and the ugly; we wanted to know it all.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I am hopefully getting over this very annoying cold that has been bugging me all week, and getting some work done while I'm at it. Not terribly exciting! I'm looking forward to being able to upgrade my gear again - I've been completely valor capped for a couple of weeks now with nothing to do with all those points!
Chase Hasbrouck (@alarondruid, @alaronmonk) I just bought my final piece of VP gear, so now's the perfect time to get another way to spend it! (Also, a 502+ helm needs to drop stat so I can use this legendary gem.) I'm most excited for the new scenarios, actually; as a primarily DPS player, scenarios are my typical go-to for VP. Also excited for new Brawler's Guild bosses and pet battle additions, especially the new pets in the BC raids. I'm rather meh about the new world event; I haven't seen how it works yet, but I'm not expecting much there.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) I need to find a Nalak group so I can get my legendary metagem, so that's gonna be my big project this weekend. Otherwise, thanks to the Citadel DLC and the Happy Ending Mod, I've gotten back into Mass Effect 3, and am working on my Insanity run. As far as patch 5.3, I'm really excited to upgrade my gear again. I'm also looking forward to trying out heroic scenarios. On the minus side, I'm a little wary about the lore and story progression. As an Alliance diehard, I am not looking forward to working for yet another horde lore figure.
Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) The PvP changes are the best news I've heard in a long time. My only concern will be whether or not I can find some new friends to BG with right off the bat. My current raiding crew doesn't PvP at all.
Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) I've been playing through Fallout 3, which I never finished when it was originally released, so very likely I'll be back there. In 5.3, I'm definitely looking forward to the new storyline going on. (Though I'm not sure I have a high enough horde character to see it first-hand.)
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I'm off this weekend, so I'm really going to put some time into Mass Effect 3. As for 5.3, I'm on one of my periodic breaks from WoW, so I respectfully bow out of the question.
Joe Perez (@lodurzj) I'm winning at the grilling game this weekend! Also having an 80's party. A very 80's party. There's legwarmers! As far as patch 5.3, I'm looking forward to the change in coin rolls. I think that has me the most excited TBH.
Kristin Marshall (@kristin) I just finished my move up to Seattle last night, so I'll be decompressing this weekend. As for 5.3? There are a bunch of quality of life changes I'm looking forward to -- reduced MoP XP needed to reach 90 (all the alts!), spec loot in LFR, battle pet changes, and being able to spend VP on something useful with the upgrade vendor. I've been getting into PvP on my priest lately, and I'm not sure how to feel about the PvP changes. I'm looking forward to them, but it's always interesting to see how things will shift.
Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) TBH, I won't be playing at all this weekend until Sunday's raid, working on getting third collection of essays ready for Amazon release. Need to finish cleaning up the essays and getting them ready for an edit pass, then to find some cover art. Busy busy.
As for 5.3, I'm looking forward to being able to upgrade some gear.
Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) I really fancy ripping some people apart with my twink feral druid. You'll see me in the Warsong Gulch flag room.... well actually you won't see me, until you're dead. Surprise! As far as 5.3 goes, I'm looking forward to the PvP changes, but they're also the thing I'm a little worried about.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) When I'm not playing my duo with The Spawn, I seem to have become addicted to leveling characters to 90 and then abandoning them for the next one. I've got three 90s so far and am now working on my 81 mage. Unless this obsession stops, my favorite thing about 5.3 will be the experience reduction for getting from 85 to 90.
Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I'm not sure what I'll be up to this weekend. My husband has to take an emergency trip out of town for family reasons, so I might spend some time this weekend doing some things that are easier with only one person around (like some serious cleaning, or reorganizing the bedroom or something).
I'm...actually not super jazzed for 5.3? I'm not NOT looking forward to it, but lately I've actually been having a lot of fun playing my lowbie alts, so my main's been a bit stagnant.
The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying?
