WRUP: Every year 'Q4' is earlier

BioShock established the late-summer blockbuster in 2007 and this week, barely a few days into August, we had reviewmageddon going on. There are plenty of games on the horizon too, not to mention the next-gen console push that will go into overdrive at Gamescom in two weeks. It's gonna be a wild five months.

What's everyone playing?

• Alexander Sliwinski (@Sliwinski): Sadly, nothing. But, you know, if I could it would be Rogue Legacy and The Last of Us.

• Danny Cowan (@Sardoose): I'm looking forward to growing my StreetPass army at QuakeCon. Oh, and I'll be playing some games there too, I guess.

• David Hinkle (@DaveHinkle): This weekend I REALLY wanna pick up Mercenary Kings but I'll probably be too busy at the GaymerX 2013 convention here in San Francisco. Panels! Peers! Pals!

• Jess Conditt (@JessConditt): Charlie Murder, finally in the comfort of my own living room.

• Jordan Mallory (@Jordan_Mallory): I'm driving to Dallas and back with Danny for QuakeCon, so I'll be playing Don't Get Murdered By Dallas Drivers.

• Ludwig Kietzmann (@LudwigK): Finishing up Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D by besting the final levels - also known as the "shit gets real" levels.

• Mike Suszek (@MikeSuszek): Starting up Enslaved: Odyssey to the West for my small game club with friends.

• Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM): Previewing something that looks pretty special. And scary.

• Sinan Kubba (@Shoinan): My second date with Catherine continues. Somehow enjoying the game much more this time around.

• Steven Wong: Pulling off some heists in the Payday 2 beta.

• Susan Arendt (@SusanArendt): Probably trying to finish up Persona 3. Or trying Etrian Odyssey IV. Or Devil Summoner Soul Hackers. Or Tales of Xillia. I have a metric ton of JRPGs to go through, is what I'm saying.

• Thomas Schulenberg (@Lavapotamus): Finally opened Batman: Arkham Asylum. I know I'm supposed to stop Joker and everything, but I'm pretty much obsessed with solving the Riddler's riddles. Sorry, Gotham, but I think you're screwed.

• Xav de Matos (@Xav): Shadowrun Returns and Ducktales Remastered. It's like a classic revival up in here! Also, I'll be protecting everyone's freedoms in another, unnamed game. You're welcome.
