Shazam 4.0 for Android arrives with redesigned interface and faster sound scans

Shazam's Android app has needed a makeover for a while; even with tablet support, the sound identification tool has felt more at home in 2011 than 2013. The company is delivering that overdue redesign today with the launch of Shazam 4.0. The new app gives Android users a modern, Holo-inspired interface that scales to all Android devices, including a wider variety of tablets. It also brings the iOS version's faster sound scans and more dynamic listening screen. While there aren't many other changes, there's more than enough here to justify grabbing the update through Google Play.

New York and London – August 29, 2013 - Shazam®, the world's leading media engagement company, today announced the release of Shazam version 4.0 for Android, the latest update of the Shazam App which is optimized for all Android devices, including Android tablets like the new Nexus 7 tablet from Google. The new version features Shazam's lightning fast identification of the music, TV shows or ads they like, giving users a result in as little as one second. Additionally, the release includes an elegant new look and feel that makes it easier than ever to discover and experience more about the music and television, buy on Amazon and share their finds with friends.

"Android devices come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes, and today's Shazam update delivers a dazzling experience across the range," said Daniel Danker, Shazam's Chief Product Officer. "Android is our fastest growing platform with more than 80 million people who love Shazam on their Android device, and today's Shazam update delivers a dazzling experience across the range, from smartphone to tablet."

When people either download the app to their Android device or update the version they already have, they get access to:

• Shazam's core features for music – now in a beautiful new design – including: information about the song and artist, music videos, lyrics, sharing on social networks, and more.

• An exciting new UI featuring an updated listening screen. Shazam has replaced the "sweep"
action with an updated blue Shazam dial that responds to music;

• Improved album artwork. Now, when looking at new tag results for music or TV ads or shows,
the artwork is larger and more engaging, and makes it easy for people to listen to a sample
of the music and purchase the track or album from Amazon;

• Optimization for Android tablet devices, giving users a fantastic new full-screen interface to make discovery a more fun and engaging experience.

Additionally, Shazam recently made it easier than ever to buy music at Amazon via Shazam on Android devices, giving users an easy and fast solution for downloading their favorite tracks or
albums straight to their device. If users do not yet have the Amazon MP3 app on their Android device, they can purchase directly from a mobile-optimized HTML5 experience by Amazon.

All versions of Shazam for Android devices come with unlimited tagging, giving fans more opportunities to engage with music and television content.
