WRUP: All DPS players are sharks edition

Just keep swimming or you'll die.

It's time to reveal a truth that many MMO players don't yet realize: All DPS players are sharks. If you're wondering why so many DPS seem to be addicted to the mantra of the holy "GOGOGO," it's because slowing down for just a minute means these players will die. They have to keep swimming and killing. This is what MMOs are doing to the sharks of the world. Don't ask how a shark is able to type or play the game; just realize that the rogue who will not wait for the tank or the healer or even the other DPS can't avoid doing what he does. He's a shark.

One of the Massively staff members might be a shark, but I can neither confirm nor deny it. Perhaps he or she reveals his or her status as a shark in this week's WRUP, or perhaps it's just our usual roundup of our weekend plans as always. You won't know until you read onward, although you should tell us what you're doing down in the comments either way.

@Beau_Hindman: I'm definitely playing more State of Decay. The game is amazing and easily is one of my top favorites for single player games of the year. For MMORPGs, I'm testing out the limits of Minecraft's MMO-ness, I'll be enjoying the latest patch for DC Universe Online, and I'll also be getting some action in Neverwinter, which I think is one of the best-looking and -sounding MMOs out there right now.

@nbrianna: I went back to World of Warcraft with a bunch of guildies, so I'll be leveling some old toons and checking out some Pandaria dungeons I've never done. Should be fun!

@Eliot_Lefebvre: World of Warcraft is currently occupying my side game slot, and while there are a variety of elements in there that I'm still not thrilled with, I am enjoying myself. Beyond that, there's going to be more Final Fantasy XIV questing to do and various endgame shenanigans to take part in, so that'll be my main focus.

@Sypster: I don't think I have any grand plans for the weekend. I'm in the pre-launch countdown mode for Lord of the Rings Online: Helm's Deep, so I'll probably try to run some more scenarios in The Secret World and perhaps try a little of this World of Warcraft thing the kids are so hot about these days.

Matt Daniel, Contributing Editor

@mvmatt: My weekend plans include soup, schoolwork, and -- if I'm lucky -- some video games. I'll be dipping into Warhammer Online to remind myself why I quit playing it (and reminisce about all the neat things that almost made me stay) before the servers shut down next month. Aside from that, I'd really like to get some time in with Guild Wars 2 and The Secret World, both of which I've been neglecting for quite some time. And maybe, just maybe, I'll cap some fools in Battlefield 4.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: This weekend I'm checking out the Three Spirits Dota 2 update. I'll also spend some time back in World of Warcraft; that Warlords of Draenor announcement has me all riled again.

MJ Guthrie, Columnist Extraordinaire and Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I plan to concentrate most of my gaming time (and I will have some no matter what, sickness be darned!) trying to get more done in the war on Filth in The Secret World. I want that pet and the bee suit so bad, so even though I don't see any way in the world I can get enough tokens, I am still going to try! Did I mention I am stubborn? When not engaged in that, I will be slipping into a scenario or two and testing new builds. I will also spend the weekend trying to decide which race to make my new Channeler in EverQuest II. I have it narrowed down to Ratonga and Kerra. Once I get that, I will only need about 30 more hours to customize the looks. Oh wait, then there is the whole name thing...

Richie Procopio, Multimedia Contributor

@RichieProcopio: This weekend I'll be intoxicated and hallucinating. No, I'm not going to a frat party; I'll be paying the tower of nightmares a visit in Guild Wars 2 and see what Scarlet and her new serpentine allies have been up to in Kessex Hills. Oh yeah, and Hearthstone!

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
