Turtle Beach launches Xbox One headset upgrade offer

Headphone manufacturer Turtle Beach announced today that it will ship free upgrade kits to customers who buy select current-generation gaming headsets, bringing purchased hardware up to speed with Xbox One compatibility.

Starting today and ending on January 30, players who purchase Turtle Beach Ear Force XP SEVEN, X42, XP400, or XP510 headsets will receive an Xbox One audio adapter by mail, adding volume control, game-chat audio mix, and mute functionality. Program sign-ups are available online. Adapters will be shipped between March 1 and June 30, 2014.

Turtle Beach Announces Xbox One Headset Upgrade Program

For a limited time purchases of select models qualify for a free Xbox One compatibility kit

VALHALLA, N.Y. – November 22, 2013 – Turtle Beach, the leading audio brand in the games industry, today announced an Xbox One upgrade program for new purchases of select current-generation headsets. Consumers who purchase a Turtle Beach Ear Force XP SEVEN, X42, XP400, or XP510 between November 22, 2013 and January 30, 2014 will receive a kit that will make the headset compatible with the new Xbox One console. The compatibility kits will be shipped free of charge between March 1, 2014 and June 30, 2014.

The compatibility kit includes a Microsoft proprietary audio control unit that connects to the Xbox One controller via the controller's expansion port. The unit makes volume, game-chat audio mix, and mute controls easy to access while playing. The control unit also passes audio through to the headset. The kit also includes a cable that connects the headset to the control unit for chat audio.
