WRUP: A very thankful staff

Turkey

Turkey day approaches, like the looming weight gain we all know it will be. And while it's still a few days away, obviously, a little thankfulness is always good for the soul. And so, we asked our dear staff what they're playing this weekend... and what they're thankful for. We all have a little extra room for a bit of thankfulness in our lives.

Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) I'm leveling a new mage up, and I'm have an absolute blast.

I'm thankful for three things.

First, my wife, friends, and family. There won't be any weight gain this Thanksgiving due to their support. Second, I'm thankful for such an amazing group of coworkers at WoW Insider and at Minnesota Opera. I think it's rare that people have such great companionship in all aspects of their life, and I'm really blessed to be surrounded by such amazing individuals through and through. Finally, I'm really thankful for all of you readers. Thanks for letting me discuss video games with you all for the last six years. Without you there would be no WoW and WoW Insider. Gobble gobble!

Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I don't know if I'll be playing anything this weekend -- I have to prep for Thanksgiving! But I'm thankful for a family that puts up with my sometimes-quirky view of the world, the things in it, and my penchant for writing. I'm thankful that the stars aligned for whatever reason to give me one of the coolest jobs I've ever had, with the coolest set of co-workers. And I'm ridiculously thankful for the people that like to read the things I write -- without them, this job would be nowhere near as satisfying.

Dan Desmond (@Antigen_) I might pick Path of Exile back up and level my duelist or whatever it is for a bit, or maybe just level my monk in WoW. I have a lot of non-gaming on my to-do list, so we'll see what I can squeeze in.

I'm thankful for freshly fallen snow, warm blankets, and caffeine.

Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) Board game night, board game night, yaaaay board game night. My gaming gang has been on hiatus for three months so I've been looking forward to this weekend's game night. I'm also planning on raiding and seeing the new Hunger Games film, but board games! Squee! This particular crew isn't big on Settlers of Catan or Agricola (my favorites) but we have some good alternatives like The Resistance.

I'm thankful for my family, friends, and that special windwalker monk in my life. Also yaks, cinder kittens, and friends to farm Lesser Coins of Good Fortune with.

Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) I just got a controller for my laptop, so I might try some of those "this would be better on a console" games I've had sitting around, like Assassin's Creed II and Lego Whatever. I finally finished Borderlands 2 and all its DLC and then immediately started playing it again. I should probably do something about that.

I'm thankful for my son, my husband, and my two jobs at which I can play video games.

Lisa Poisso (@lisapoisso) Arathi Basin on my 30something. Never gets old. In fact, that's what I'm thankful for: Arathi Basin. As long as people aren't fighting in the roads, it's better than pumpkin pie.

Matthew Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) I'm playing "Pack up all your stuff so that strangers can come into your house and move everything around", a fun home game my wife signed us up for. No, I don't know why. Furniture, I think?

I'm thankful Thanksgiving was last month.

Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) My guild is doing a push to finish up Stay Classy, so I'm doing my part and leveling a dwarf monk. It's going very well, this is an awesome class! So, I'll be working on that this weekend mostly, liking trudging through Northrend.

I am thankful for many things in my pretty-blessed life, but definitely most thankful for my wife. And the dog, I guess, she's all right too.

Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) Given that this WRUP email neatly coincides with my 2nd WoW Insider writing birthday, I'm thankful for all of you guys. And to Alex, Adam and Lisa who conspired to find my application not-awful enough to give me a job here in the first place! It's been great, and I'm very thankful.

As far as this weekend, I'm in the Diablo III: Reaper of Souls F&F, and am absolutely loving my Crusader. She's so mch fun! So probably more of that. Some arena too, most likely, and maybe some more RAF leveling.

Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) This weekend I'll be playing one of my monks and pet battling. I'll also be playing more Scurvy Scalliwags. Yarrr. I'm thankful for The Spawn. She's the best thing that ever happened to me.

Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I've got a busy weekend coming up, so I doubt I'll be playing much of anything, alas. I am thankful for good friends and good health. It hasn't been a great year for me health-wise, but I'm doing okay and I've made it this far, so I'm glad for that.

The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!
