WRUP: The desert of our dis-content
We're caught in the desert of very little news. But at least some news is starting to trickle in about 2014, such as the many contests for BlizzCon. (I hear they're on the left side, and must be handled.)
We asked our intrepid staff what big hopes and dreams they were secretly harboring for BlizzCon 2014 this year. I'm hoping that we'll finally hear some hints of that mysterious project. I'd say a release date for WoD but there's no way it can wait that long, right? Right? Oh, gosh, I hope we're not still waiting for WoD by then.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) This weekend is going to be spent mostly helping out my dad, I think, in between bouts of reading War Crimes. Review coming soon, I swear! BlizzCon 2014 - man I don't know what they've got planned, but this year is the 20th anniversary of Warcraft, and the 10th anniversary of WoW, so I'd hope it's something pretty spectacular even just as an anniversary celebration. I'd love to hear more about the secret project they're working on, but I'm fervently hoping we're all happily messing around on Draenor by then.
Dawn Moore (@dawnwow) Raiding on Sunday, but keeping all my spare fingers crossed for the beta to open up soon (and that I'll get an invite when it does). Maybe it's my current guild, or just the icky aesthetic of SoO, but I can't wait for this tier to end. I won't have much time to game this weekend (so many weddings/bridal showers/bachelorette parties) but if I do it will be to take advantage of double IP weekend in League.
My dream announcement for BlizzCon would be Titan, but after all the staff changes I don't expect to see anything regarding that for at least another year. I suspect WoD will be out before BlizzCon so the big Warcraft reveal will probably be a movie trailer. (San Diego Comic-Con might get the first big one though, just because there's more media coverage at that event.) For WoW, Diablo, and Hearthstone I'd guess there will be patch or feature previews. SC2 will likely have its next expansion announced, and HotS will probably have more solid release information. There will also surely be a closing ceremony with a band I don't like.
Elizabeth Harper (@Faience) I'm Diabloing again this weekend; really digging my crusader, not to mention D3's amazing transmog system.
BlizzCon... too early to say. But right now I'm definitely hoping for a new Diablo expansion!
Olivia Grace (@oliviadgrace) This weekend I'm going to be playing some WoW, probably some Heroes of the Storm. I have just started working on a Frost Mage, and I'd forgotten how fun Frost is for PvP! We're also starting up a board game night on a Saturday with friends, which will begin with The Red Dragon Inn and Forbidden Island this weekend. I'm also getting my first ever mechanical keyboard on Monday so I'm excited for that. Corsair Vengeance K70, red, to answer the inevitable questions.
And as far as BlizzCon, remember that Overwatch trademark we posted about a while back? Something related to that would be excellent.
Sarah Pine (@ilaniel) I just got an invitation to the HoTS technical alpha, so I'll probably be hitting that up this weekend. I'm actually pretty excited about it!
Bonus question: uh, I haven't really thought about it to be honest. I expect we'll hear about the next StarCraft expansion, which would be cool. Otherwise...idk. I'm not really that invested in whatever the mystery "Titan" project is/was, so I'm not jumping up and down to make predictions. We'll hear the news when we hear the news!
