Breakfast Topic: What should a Garrison be?

One of the big discussions on twitter about Warlords of Draenor is the Garrison, what it is and what it isn't. One of the first things I said about it in my Alpha roundup was that I don't think I know what it is yet, myself - you only get to see a couple of levels worth of it in one zone, you don't get to experience it over the course of leveling to 100.

Still, I feel secure in saying that the Garrison doesn't feel like player housing, especially not player housing ala Animal Crossing style furniture acquisition minigames or Fable III's property management system. At least in potentia, it feels like building up a home base in the Warcraft RTS franchise, with structures that increase your ability to do missions and followers to perform them. You're not home, you're in an armed camp you built in hostile territory, a fort you use to project force forward and defend yourself. It still has tweaks I'd like to see made, but I can see where it could go and I'm interested.

But that begs the question - is that what the players want? Do you want a fort, or a house? What do you, the readers at home, think?
