The Queue: Dinosaurs because it's Friday

Welcome back to The Queue, the daily Q&A column in which the WoW Insider team answers your questions about the World of Warcraft. Matthew Rossi will be your host today.

Yesterday, I deliberately didn't go on and on about dinosaurs. So today, I'm not being nearly so restrained. Dinosaurs. Lots of dinosaurs. Also some mosasaurs and pterosaurs because hey, prehistoric critters, good enough for me.

Okay, that should keep me calm for a while. Let's get on with the World of Warcraft questions, which I suspect will be disappointingly dinosaur free.

FabioKasecker asks:
Q4tQ: I know that the questline for the cloak will be gone on 6.0.2 and with the release of WoD, but what about the vendor? What if I don't have enough gold to buy the second cloak for a second spec when WoD drops? Will I still be able to buy it after the release of the next xpac?

The vendor isn't going anywhere. If you completed the quest before it is removed, you can still purchase the items.

Sythwraith asks:
Q4tQ: Are Dungeons going to be significant again in WoD? In MoP I never had a reason to run them beyond experiencing the story and then we 3 manned most of them on level. I am hoping to see the return to the need to run Dungeons again. Is that possible?

Dungeons are definitely more of a focus. The line between normal and heroic has been strengthened - you need gear from normals to really have a chance at heroics when they launch, and you also need to do Proving Grounds and get a silver in order to queue up for a heroic in a specific role. In addition, five player heroic dungeons have a chance to drop warforged loot.

Hopefully this signals a return to focusing on dungeons for Warlords. We'll find out.

butts.and.butts asks:
If you could only get one by the end of Mists, which would you choose? The options are: all silver challenge modes, the legendary cloak, or the green fire feat of strength.

Well, that last one wouldn't do me a lot of good. I don't play a warlock.

I already have the cloak on one character, and I'm completely disinterested in the transmog set from Challenge Modes. (That's why I never bothered doing them.) So... I guess I'm going to have to say none of these options. But I'm sure other commenters will have more of an opinion. I have to say, though, I do think the Green Fire quest was one of the coolest things Blizzard did this expansion - a fun and challenging quest that doled out the lore and gave players who completed it a sense of achievement. I'd love to see other classes get something like it.

AmarettoSour asks:
Please talk about dinosaurs!

I'd love a whole queue about dinosaurs.

I wish we had a Microraptor battle pet. If you could have any dinosaur as a pet, what would you want to have?

I can only answer the questions I'm given, but since you asked, I've got a list of dinosaurs that should (in my opinion) appear in World of Warcraft as tameable pets. If you meant battle pets, just assume they all come with a baby version. Note - this list is not meant to be comprehensive, I'm limiting myself to five because, well, we'd be here all day otherwise.

  • Ankylosaurus. Seriously, why don't we have any of the ankylosaurids in WoW?

  • Therizinosaurus. Big claws on a herbivorous dinosaurs. I've always liked these dudes ever since I watched Nigel Marvin pretend he was running away from them.

  • Apatosaurus. We've gone ten years in World of Warcraft without a single sauropod. This makes no sense at all. Why don't we have any sauropods, I ask you? And while there are much larger sauropods, Apatosaurus is one of the most famous examples of their kind.

  • Torvosaurus. It is named savage lizard. Why isn't this in Warlords of Draenor again?

  • Juravenator. I told y'all I love tiny dinosaurs. This one would almost have to be restricted to battle pet status, unless you're a big fan of whimsy.

There you go, Amaretto. I talked about dinosaurs. Also, Revnah, I answered your question as well. Synergy. It's pretty awesome.

RustinMeek asks:
Q4tq: having beaten garrosh, are there any places or people I should talk to who have information about things going on AFTER his defeat?

Spoilers for Siege, if for some reason you've managed to avoid them.

As soon as you beat Garrosh, talk to everyone in the room. If you're Horde, the Horde faction leaders will tell you what they're up to post Garry. If you're Alliance, same deal. The first time you beat Garry, you can get a quest from the puddle of goop left behind when the Heart of Y'Shaarj blows up - this leads you ultimately to the Vale, where you get a nice cutscene. And if you're on the final leg of the quest from Wrathion, he has a meltdown and freaks the heck out about how Varian should have taken the opportunity to kill every Horde in the room and taken over their territory. He's pretty convinced the Alliance could easily have rolled the Horde in about a year, but he's a dragon blessed with the ancient wisdom of a Titan and the native deviousness of the Black Dragonflight, so what does he know?

Also, there's been a few stories set in the post-Garrosh era, if you want stuff outside of game. We've mentioned War Crimes a few times, and there's also this lore section of the official website to look over. The story The Untamed Valley in particular covers the Horde/True Horde split post-Garrosh.

And that's the Queue for today. Make sure to ask Anne all about Med'an, he's her favorite character.
