YouTube announces "YouTube Music Key" subscription service for $7.99 a month

YouTube has announced the details of its own paid subscription music service, YouTube Music Key, via Billboard. YouTube Music Key allows users to stream videos ad-free and offline for US$9.99 a month after an initial promotion price of $7.99. User subscriptions cover both music videos and non-video music streaming and launch via an invite-only beta on November 17.

If you already have a Google Play subscription, the service will be bundled together with your existing subscription thanks to YouTube being owned by the tech giant. YouTube will introduce a new continuous listening option, similar to Pandora, based off of a song or artist of the listener's choosing. In addition, the service is introducing a new Music tab which highlights available full-length albums and artist pages.

There's one major incentive to participate in the beta if you're offered an invite -- beta users will get six months of access to the service for free. You can find more at YouTube Music Key's website. Expect an updated version of YouTube's iOS app in the near future.
