WRUP: Can't tell you what this bird is edition

Sometimes it's more fun to be disallowed.

Sorrow weighs heavy upon my bosom, dear readers, because I cannot tell you about this bird. When I discussed my original idea for this installment of WRUP with Bree -- I like to keep her abreast of my thought process -- she immediately declared that I was not allowed to use its name in the title or body of this work. As a result, the supple curves that originally market this installment of the feature have now sagged into nothingness.

We'll do our best to bounce back, however. This week's installment still features the Massively staff's plans for the weekend to nip any confusion in the bud, and you are more than welcome to leave your own plans down in the comments. So while I can't name the bird or discuss its fantastically fluffy chest, I'm sure that your own enjoyment will remain firmly supported as you run down our planned diversions.

@Beau_Hindman: I'm moving on to the browser-based League of Angels for my next Rise and Shiny, but I can already tell it's going to be a bit of a grinder. Luckily I have Memoria and Lilly Looking Through to help me out, and I'll as messing with the new DC Universe Online armories and learning all about thumping in Firefall.

@nbrianna: I have been informed by my better half that we will be playing Ingress this weekend. We played a bit last night while out shopping, and so far it seems to consist of a lot of clicking on shiny portals and saying HAHA LOSERS to the blue team, whose members cannot hear us. So, you know, it's an MMO... that costs almost $4 a gallon.

Eliot Lefebvre, Senior Contributing Editor

@Eliot_Lefebvre: Having finished up most of my major goals in Final Fantasy XIV early this week, I'm reduced to mostly puttering around for the weekend, maybe pushing Bard to 50 so I can put down all things archery-related. (It's the last DoW I have to level.) I'll be taking advantage of the free time to goof around a bit in WildStar, get back to leveling alts and such in World of Warcraft, and playing through single-player games. The Banner Saga is finally out after I backed it nearly two years ago, after all.

Jasmine Hruschak, Contributing Streamer

@irljasmine: This weekend is a leveling sort of weekend. I'll be pushing my White Mage through her 40s and crossing my fingers for decent random dungeon groups. By this level people should stop summoning tank pets for DPS fights right? Right?! Sob. Also, in the middle of my scramble to kill internet dragons for experience points, I'll be heading out of the house for a local guildie meet-up, where we'll talk about killing internet dragons for experience points. I'll try to at least find my +3 Social Interaction pants. If I wear the whole set, I get a bonus to smalltalk.

@Sypster: Most of my interest as of late has been in Lord of the Rings Online, where I'm taking my Lore-master through Moria and teaching her how to craft wooden things out of other wooden things. Such as the previous sentence's prose. I'm mulling over reloading up an old MMO favorite as well, but I haven't decided on what that might be.

Larry Everett, Columnist

@Shaddoe: I thought about making some of my guildies log into WildStar again this weekend. We have a Chua army to build, people! On the Star Wars: The Old Republic side of life, we have another character that needs to be rescued from the prisons of Belsavis. I mean really, couldn't you all be captured at the same time so that we can rescue you all at once? And my corporate Sith needs to discover a transmogrification formula from medallions her apprentice found while dancing in a cantina... or whatever it is that twi'leks do in their free time, which I assume is dancing.

Matt Daniel, Contributing Editor

@mvmatt: I've finally made it to level 49 in the Pugilist class in Final Fantasy XIV, so this weekend will likely be focused on getting that final level so that I can promptly begin leveling a different class -- I'm thinking Gladiator. A friend of mine is also beginning a Pathfinder campaign, so I'll be settling down for some good old fashioned pen-and-paper action as well.

Matthew Gollschewski, Columnist

@nonsensicles: That's right. I've decided to start using my long-neglected Twitter, or at least try to figure out how to use it. I'll be playing more Neverwinter to flesh out the Field Journal that I missed thanks to the incredible pain of healing from dental work. Also, the Pantheon Kickstarter seems like a good motivation to give Vanguard a good, honest try if I can force myself to keep my eyes pointed at the screen for more than a few minutes.

Mike Foster, Contributing Editor

@MikedotFoster: My PC just ate another hard drive, so my weekend is looking like a bummer for games. If I can get everything sorted, I'll be playing Guild Wars 2, Hearthstone, and of course, Dota 2.

MJ Guthrie, Contributing Editor

@MJ_Guthrie: I really really want that pet in The Secret World, so I have about 600 Filth runs in Agartha to do. When my eyes can't stand another slimy, writhing black tentacle, I'll take a break and work on my epic storyline in Lord of the Rings Online. In between those, I'll be preparing myself for EverQuest Next Landmark (helpful tips to follow today!)

Patrick Mackey, Columnist

@mackeypb: Other than my normal games where I do normal things (League of Legends, Age of Wushu), the big thing I've been messing with lately is Guns of Icarus Online. It's really hard, it's really fun, and it rewards skill and teamwork. It's my kind of game. I wish all of my IRL friends had the game, but I have at least one crew member I can sort of depend on.

Richie Procopio, Contributing Editor

@RichieProcopio: It's so refreshing to be playing a game with turn-based combat again. The Banner Saga is just gorgeous with a rich story, engaging music, and an intricate combat system. Throw in some Hearthstone and WildStar beta action, and it's shaping up to be a fun weekend!

Shawn Schuster, Senior Editor

@Epykbeard: I finished Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons last week, but need to go back and finish the achievements because I'm that guy. Also because I just have to play that game again. I'm also messing around quite a bit with Next Car Game and 7 Days to Die while waiting for the next Starbound patch to come through the pipe.

At the start of every weekend, we catch up with the Massively staff members and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" (Otherwise known as: WRUP!) Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game -- and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
