IndieBox ships mystery PC games monthly, starting with Teslagrad

Orlando-based PC game subscription service IndieBox has launched its first boxed product in an effort to fight the "race to the bottom" syndrome that often sinks indie game pricing.

Customers who subscribe to IndieBox (starting at $14.99 monthly, plus shipping), will receive a deluxe-edition, boxed indie game for Windows, Mac, and Linux in the mail every month that includes an array of bonus items like buttons, stickers, and soundtrack CDs. The service's debut game Teslegrad recently shipped out to subscribers in a Sega Genesis-styled box and USB cartridge casing.

Featured games are not disclosed until monthly products hit subscriber mailboxes, and five additional games are planned for shipment in the coming months. Next month's boxed product, due to ship on June 20, is available for pre-order through May 31.

IndieBox Launches First Monthly Video Game Subscription Box for Gamers and Fans of Indie Games

Nearly 200 subscribers are receiving their first "boxed" indie game in mailboxes around the world. IndieBox has partnered with popular indie game developers to create nostalgia-filled game boxes containing collector's edition items for newly released indie games. IndieBox ships the next box on June 20th.

Orlando, FL - May 19th, 2014

IndieBox delivers collector's edition boxes of independent video games for as low as $14.99 a month (+$3 US S&H). IndieBox, which launched in the beginning of April, is the only monthly subscription box that aims to recapture the nostalgia of the traditional video game boxes. IndieBox is best described as "Loot Crate for video games."

IndieBox partners with talented indie developers to create retro-style game boxes featuring hand-painted artwork, reminiscent of the NES, SNES, and Genesis eras, with re-imagined game cartridges, color-manuals, CD soundtracks, posters, and much more.

The company's premier box, a mystery each month, featured the game, Teslagrad, by Norwegian studio, Rain Games. The box included: cover art by Dan Jones, custom-printed USB game cartridge, 24-page color manual, CD soundtrack with bonus track by chiptunes artist Kubbi, 11"x17" poster, collectible 4-button pack, official CubeeCraft papercraft of the lead character, exclusive prototype of Powerhoof's game, CRAWL, and vinyl IndieBox sticker.

The company has vowed to always feature games for any gamer, regardless of their computer platform, as each box supports Windows, Mac OSX, and Linux. Every game produced is DRM-Free and will begin shipping with Steam keys starting with the June IndieBox.

IndieBox has secured an impressive list for their "mystery box" for the next 5 months, including games that have yet to be released, with more already in progress. In addition to game developers, the company works with various musicians, artists, designers, and studios to provide exclusive content each month to support games featured in the box.

IndieBox is currently open to new members for their June box with a cut-off date of May 31st. For more information, visit http://www.TheIndieBox.com and join the IndieBox community on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/TheIndieBox, and Twitter, http://twitter.com/TheIndieBox.
