WRUP: Gamescom 2014 next week

Next week is Gamescom and no delicious schnitzel in the city of Cologne is safe from our ravenous desire. Quinoa and kale? You're out of your mind! It's a solid week of beer, meat and bread. There's gonna be video games, too... and three press conferences. Microsoft, Sony and EA will all have new things to say next Tuesday and Wednesday. We'll be there with our liveblog hats on. • Alexander Sliwinski (@Sliwinski, Twitch): Rogue Legacy on Vita for my flight to Gamescom. I should be able to work through a few generations of heroes in that time.

• Anthony John Agnello (@AJohnAgnello): Never have I been more jealous of Sinan Kubba's swinging European lifestyle. The last time I was in Cologne, Mega Man X3 was still on shelves for Sega Saturn. Germany rules. I'll just have to console myself with loooong sessions with Sailor Moon Another Story on Super Nintendo.

• Danny Cowan (@db_cowan, Twitch): Road Not Taken, Proteus, and Metrico. It's a pretty good month for PlayStation Plus, especially for Vita owners.

• Earnest Cavalli (@Ecavalli, Twitch): Brian Fargo builds a post-apocalypse like nobody else can, so I'll be spending the weekend in the irradiated deserts of Wasteland 2, gunning down raiders, warding off mutant critters and selling cigarettes to children. What? You thought I'd be roleplaying Dudley Do-Right at the end of the world?

• Jess Conditt (@JessConditt, Twitch): Fez on Vita. I need mindless, adorable fun during the flight(s) to Germany.

• Mike Suszek (@MikeSuszek, Twitch): Persona 4 Golden.

• Richard Mitchell (@TheRichardM, Twitch): Rogue Legacy for sure. If I steel myself emotionally, I'd really like to revisit The Last of Us on PS4 too. Finally, I'm trying to get back into coding with GameMaker. Who likes pixel art? Oh, and raising a newborn.

• Sinan Kubba (@SinanKubba, Twitch): I'm enjoying Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney while sipping beers by the Cologne river. It's a good game for such larks.

• Sam Prell (@SamPrell, Twitch): I've been playing so many video games lately, all I want this weekend is some rest. And to see Guardians of the Galaxy again.

• Susan Arendt (@SusanArendt, Twitch): I shall attempt to parse the bizarre depths of The Road Not Taken. Bears, by the way, are jerks. Straight-up jerks.

• Thomas Schulenberg (@T_Schulenberg, Twitch): Since I'm spending all of Saturday traveling, I'll switch between Bravely Default, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Golf: World Tour and Kirby: Triple Deluxe ... Would it be overkill if I pack two 3DSs to ensure my sanity on an 8 hour flight?

• Xav de Matos (@Xav, Twitch): Checking out a host of new games on my Vita, like Proteus and Metrico, thanks to this month's PS Plus offerings.
