Camera+ 6.0 introduces manual controls and more to remain the best iOS camera app

Camera+ 6.0 is here, introducing manual controls and improved macro and white balance options to make the best iOS camera app even better. The stars of the update are the new manual controls which allow you to quickly adjust focus and exposure on the fly while you shoot.

Utilizing a new control wheel, it's easier than ever to make sure the light is just right in each of your pictures. To activate the control wheel, simply double-tap on the focus or exposure icons while you're shooting. There aren't any built-in tutorials, so pay close attention while you're moving through menus.

If you activate autofocus or autoexposure while the control wheel is displayed, the wheel adjusts to show you exactly which settings the auto-function chose. This is a great way for novices to get a better understanding of what settings are ideal for different lighting situations. Learning the new manual system takes a few minutes of playing around, but once you've grasped the basics you'll be shooting and in full control in no time.

Advanced users will enjoy the full range of adjustable shutter speed and ISO controls, including a "Shutter Priority" mode where ISO is automatically set for you based on the shutter speed you pick. The update also introduces macro shooting to Camera+, creating sharp images of very tiny objects.

Finally, Camera+'s editing suite has finally had the locks removed, allowing you to edit photos from your existing camera roll without having to import them to the app first. That's right, you can now edit with Camera+ from the stock Photos app thanks to Apple's new Photo Extensions.

This update is free to all Camera+ users. If you haven't already purchased the app, it's just US$1.99 in the iTunes Store for iPhone and iPod Touch. Sadly, Camera+'s iPad app ($4.99) has not been updated to receive these new features.
