Sakaguchi's Terra Battle lands on iOS, Android this week

Terra Battle, a fast-paced, grid-based action RPG from Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi's Mistwalker studio, will start filling experience bars on October 9. The adventure begins as a free download on iOS and Android, with players leading a party to the center of the world to learn about a being called The Maker. Naturally, hordes of monsters stand ahead of your destination, inviting your group into bouts where intelligent positioning doles out extra servings of damage.

While players can purchase Energy to restore stamina, avoid defeat in battle or unlock rare characters, Terra Battle's Download Starter will add content based on the game's accumulative download count rather than how much players spend. New music, characters, game modes and a console version can all be earned if 2 million adventurers brave Terra Battle's journey for knowledge.

Contributing Editor Mike Suszek got a closer look at Terra Battle at PAX Prime, noting that at first, its hectic pace didn't make "a lick of sense, yet the slide-and-move-on action was innate and enjoyable enough to encourage continued play."

TERRA BATTLE, THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED RPG WITH FUTURE REWARDS COMING TO PLAYERS VIA THE 'DOWNLOAD STARTER CAMPAIGN,' COMES TO TABLETS AND MOBILE DEVICES ON OCTOBER 9

Players Can Soon Experience the Tactical Role Playing Game From Mistwalker Corp. and FINAL FANTASY Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi

TOKYO - October 3, 2014 - Mistwalker Corporation, a video game studio focused on the creation of games and other software, today announced that its mobile and tablet role playing game (RPG), Terra Battle, will be available globally on iOS and Android devices on October 9.

Developed by Mistwalker and scored by famed composer Nobuo Uematsu, Terra Battle is a tactical role playing game about a group of warriors who embark on a journey to the center of the world to learn about a mysterious entity known as The Maker. Players will experience fast and strategic battles with collectible heroes and an extensive story as they strive to learn about The Maker's true origins.

"Terra Battle is like a developer's festival where our players' passion will generate amazing updates, additions and potential merchandise and events for the game," said Hironobu Sakaguchi, founder of Mistalker. "The game is uniquely artistic and ambitious in scope and there's no telling what the future holds because it's in the hands of players."

In addition to frequent scheduled updates, new elements will be added with Terra Battle's Download Starter Campaign that rewards players with special updates, content and stories upon reaching specific player download milestones. Rewards range from new in-game music, characters and scenarios to the production of Terra Battle books, figurines, concerts and even potentially a console version of the game.

Terra Battle's key features include:

An extensive story with numerous chapters and stages. To provide a never-ending RPG experience, additional content will be added through regular updates and the Download Starter reward campaign.

Strategic gameplay through the use of free character movement across the in-game battlefield, directly aligning party members to launch powerful group attacks and using special items on the field to increase overall power.

Players can collect, upgrade and customize a variety of different warriors, magicians and heroes throughout the game in order to create their perfect combat party.

By purchasing 'Energy' through the cash shop, or though regular gameplay progression, players can use it to restore their in-game stamina, continue a difficult battle after defeat or unlock rare characters for their party.

Terra Battle will be available to download on October 9 for free (with in-app purchases) on mobile devices.
