Nokia definitely, totally, absolutely isn't copying Apple... seriously

Nokia just announced that it is going to take on the tablet market with its iPad mini competitor, the N1. Well, calling it an iPad mini competitor might be giving it a bit too much credit. A "completely original design that in no way resembles the iPad and you shouldn't even think about that because it's definitely not a copy" may be a better way to describe it.

Ok, I know what you're thinking. There are only so many ways you can make a small tablet right? They're bound to look similar no matter what. I get it. Nokia's product chief, Sebastian Nystrom, feels the same way. In fact, he told The Verge that while it might look similar to other tablets, it's definitely an original design. It's aluminum, with an identical bezel, and all the buttons in the exact same spaces, but it's definitely not copy of the iPad mini, because Nokia said so.

If you need further proof that Nokia absolutely, without a doubt, doesn't want to ride on the iPad mini's coat tails, just check out their extremely original marketing shots that in no way resemble Apple's. The iPad mini ad is first (in case you couldn't tell the difference):

See? The hand is gently setting the small aluminum tablet onto the plain white surface from the other side -- clearly not a copy whatsoever. I'm glad we put that nasty rumor to rest.
