Twitter is rolling out interactive 'conversational' ads

Ugh. Just, ugh.

We're still not 100 percent on whether Twitter will lift its 140-character limit on public tweets, but you can bet your bottom dollar that users will soon see more -- and more in-depth -- ads on the messaging platform. Twitter announced Tuesday on its website that it will begin rolling out "conversational" ads designed to interact more with users than existing promoted tweets. As the company's announcement explains, these conversational ads include "call to action buttons with customizable hashtags that encourage consumer engagement."

When you click on one of these conversational ads (which appear to be basic two-option polls), the app will open a pre-populated reply to the company which the user can then personalize and disseminate to their followers. Once that's sent, the ad will then automatically reply to the user with a message from the company thanking them for the free promotion.
