Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Patch 2.4.1
The new patch 2.4.1 is finally out. This patch is not a huge one compared to the previous game patches. However, the items it adds allow for significant cosmetic changes for your characters. There are minor character abilities changes to balance the game and new weapons that you are now able to loot from dungeons and monsters. Regardless of game balances, the patch finally allows players to customize their characters to their hearts' content.
Players are no longer stuck with only the Wings of Valor accessory. One of many items added in this patch is called the Wings of Kokabiel. An item dropped by the hard mode edition of Maghda (a boss in the game). The Wings of Kokabiel is a set of monarch butterfly wings with a skull design incorporated into its lines. Another cosmetic item that caught my attention is the StarCraft Terran marine helmet that you could have your character wear in battle. That is awesome. It is great to see Blizzard integrating fun crossovers between their games.
Pets! Yes, this update allows you to have a pet follow you around as you hack and slash monsters throughout the game. You can have a cute yeti follow you around. If yetis are not your fancy, you can have a Cow King, or a cute Galthrak (flying creature) accompany you on your adventures. These are a selected few of the many pets that you could choose from, and, of course, Blizzard will be adding much more in future patches.
A question that many players ask is, "If these items do not give me any performance benefits, why should I care?" My response is that there is a significant number of game streamers like me and professional players that want to standout from other players in the game. Dedicated players of the game want not to only create a name for themselves, but also create an image that is recognizable at a glance by spectators of the game. These cosmetic add-ons adds personality to your character and makes it unique. Just like in the real world, despite what others may say, you are always judged by your appearance.
