Though there are many ways to transfer files between two devices but an internet connection is required for most of them. You needed to close the Wi-Fi internet connection in order to transfer files, but now in the latest version this problem has also been resolved by the developer company, and the transfer can still work even if Wi-Fi is in the ON mode. There is also no any restriction for the file size but it may take longer time for the transfer if the file size is quite large.
There are also many cloud based services to transfer files, most popular being Dropbox and Google drive. But in these services files are being stored on the servers before being transferred, while it is not the case when using the SHAREit app. You don't really need to store your files anywhere and files are only being transferred using SHAREit app. Also cloud based file transfer services like dropbox and Google drive require an internet connection.
