Engadget Review

The new Surface Pro is more viable as a laptop replacement, but it hasn't made much progress as a standalone tablet. Ultimately, it's at its best in laptop mode, but it's still not always as comfortable to use as a proper Ultrabook.

The Pro 2 keeps the best features of the original Surface Pro, adds new internal hardware and new accessory options, and is supposed to fix one of the primary problems with the original Surface Pro, mediocre battery life.

TechCrunch
The Surface Pro 2 has been bumped up to the Haswell generation of Intel chips, can contain up to 8 gigabytes of low-power DDR RAM, and a SSD that can reach the half-terabyte mark. It also receives the new kickstand position, which Microsoft is proud of, mostly because it works.

Physically, the Pro 2 is an impressive specimen, thanks to Redmond's trademark magnesium build, which feels extremely sturdy, both in terms of ruggedness and weight. It's only 2 pounds, but it's a very dense 2 pounds.

SlashGear
At first glance, the Surface Pro 2 looks likely to take the top spot as our Windows 8 tablet of choice.

Aside from the Surface 2's eye-catching coat of white, the tablets both feel almost physically identical to their predecessors. That's a good thing; the well-angled bezels and overall high-quality feeling of the hardware was one of our favorite parts about both of the two Surfaces.

The shame of it is they really are great devices. Especially the Surface Pro 2, which is easily the most impressive Windows device I have ever used, supplanting the first-generation model.

The magnesium build looks and feels great. While it's a bit hefty, in terms of density, it only weighs two pounds. This gives it a rough, rugged feel.

Considering just how much horsepower there is under the hood, we guess we can overlook its weight, but it isn’t too heavy where it might be an issue when carrying around in your bag.

If you had problems with the very concept of Surface, there’s nothing in the new ones to sway your opinion. They’re the same idea in more refined form, ... unless you’re at least O.K. with the Windows 8.x experience on a touchscreen device.
Product Review
TechRadar
Overall, the Surface Pro 2 comes across as another device being taken through the yearly refresh process. It's received some reactive, though not unwelcome, updates to keep up with the completion. It's a solid device, but so was the Surface Pro.
