In light of this week's announcement of Alan Wake's American Nightmare coming to PC on May 22, the marketing minds at GOG have discounted the original Alan Wake and are promising discounts on pre-orders for Remedy's follow-up. Alan Wake is priced at $14.99 until 8:59pm GMT on May 15, while American Nightmare is $13.49 – or, if you already own Alan Wake or purchase both games at once, $11.24.For the rest of this weekend, GOG is slashing prices on 1C Company's line of classics, which includes Space Rangers, Star Wolves, Fantasy Wars and Fantasy Brigade: Star Battles in Space. Each is half-off until May 14 at 3:59am GMT.... Okay, we may have made that last one up.

When Valve introduced the hat system to Team Fortress 2, you swore off Steam forever. You're a die hard PC Battlefield player, and simply won't play it anywhere else. You refuse to use standalone clients for launching your favorite PC games. Do these things describe you? Then you're probably a big fan of EA's Origin game service, which will be getting content from 11 publishers "in the coming months," according to a press release issued by EA this morning. The first game to be added is the aforementioned Rift from Trion Worlds, with games from Robot Entertainment, CD Projekt RED, Freebird Games, Recoil Games, Autumn Games, 1C Company, Inxile Entertainment, Paradox Interactive, Core Learning, and N3V Games joining Rift's ranks soon. EA says that more specific information on pricing and release dates will be offered in the near future via Origin, so keep an eye out while you're remaining steadfast in your stance against that other major digital retailer.

  • ESRB: Death Track: Resurrection to get new life on PS3

Gaijin Entertainment Corporation plans to publish 1C's PC combat racing game Death Track: Resurrection, on PS3. At least, the publisher secured an ESRB rating for a PS3 version, which it probably wouldn't do if it didn't plan to release the game. Death Track: Resurrection, released last year, is about a violent racing competition set far in the future, in which cars have weapons and stuff. As a rookie driver, the player must make their way up the tournament ranks by driving well and not exploding. Resurrection is the sequel to a PC game, Deathtrack, created by Red Baron/Tribes developer Dynamix and originally released in 1989. That actually goes a long way toward explaining how you can have "Death Track" and "Resurrection" in the same title. It's the death track that was resurrected.

Funcom today announced a partnership with huge Russian developer/publisher 1C Company to localize Age of Conan for the Russian-speaking market. All text and voices in the game will be translated to Russian, and 1C will provide customer support and community services to the Russian community. There will also be a Russian server. This is all due in Q4 of this year. The English language version of the game has already been released in Eastern Europe, and it's done pretty well. All the marketing hype quotes in the press release stress that the game will be a massive success when available in the native tongue of the region. We're not going to make any predictions about that, but this is probably good news either way if your native language is Russian and you're already playing the game.

Russia-based publisher 1C games has announced its first titles for "next-gen" (or what we're actually now calling "current-gen") consoles: Captain Blood and the less-catchily-titled IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey.Captain Blood (pictured above) is an Xbox 360 and PC action game based on the Rafael Sabatini pirate novel of the same name. IL-2S:BoP, meanwhile, is being developed for Xbox 360 and PS3, with portable versions in development for DS and PSP (no Wii love, it seems). No details on the gameplay or plot of Birds of Prey, but our deductive reasoning tells us it will likely be either about fighter planes, or predatory fowl. Guesses?
