[Update: Apologies for the interminable wait, but we wanted to wait until we heard back from the four winners before officially considering the contest closed. Both winners on Joystiq have their games in the mail already, while one on X3F has yet to respond to our emails. If it goes unclaimed until tomorrow morning we'll have another random drawing, but the winner obviously won't have it for the weekend.]There's about one hour left to enter to win a copy of next week's biggest release, BioShock. Joystiq snagged four copies from their local Toys 'R' Us early, and we're overnighting them to four lucky winners who will, no doubt, spend the entire weekend kicking it underwater in Rapture. But remember, you have four chances to win! Looking over our four giveaway posts, the number of entries varies meaning some folks aren't maximizing their odds. Here's the four posts you can enter on but remember: if you leave more than one comment on any one post you'll be disqualified. Good luck! [Update: Well, not so much.]Sure, once it had downloaded, 360 gamers may have loved playing the BioShock demo earlier this week. But we wonder if it made them feel a little uneasy, as if someone was watching. That wasn't just atmosphere, console gamers: That was the feeling of hundreds of thousands of PC gamers with their noses pressed against the window, trying to catch a glimpse. But take heart, oft-neglected PC fans, your demo is coming tomorrow. ShackNews is reporting that you'll be able to put your plasmid-scarred mitts on your playable introduction to Rapture tomorrow at FileShack. We're not sure what other sources will be offering it, but we doubt it'll be too hard for you to dig up. In the meantime, would you mind cleaning the smudges off the glass?[Thanks, Jubby]

Have you finished the Bioshock demo? On hard mode? Take your experience to an even more surreal plane, and explore the outside of the game world though a glitch. Similar to Halo 3 beta shenanigans when Bungie introduced the Banshees, this video from SPJglitches shows how to slip through a wall, and hop along the outside of a building. To what ends, we're not sure. But wring out every last morsel of Bioshock before the shock of buying a $60 new game.Or you could win it.See the inside-out video after the break.[Thanks, Steve!]

[Update 2: We managed to snag four copies, and we're giving them away and overnighting them so winners can play this weekend. Go here to enter!] Normally, we wouldn't condone leaving work early to play video games, so hear us out. You see, word on the street is that the street date for BioShock (yeah, the one with the awesome demo) has been broken by some US retailers (mostly ones with backwards Rs). If you look at the receipt above, this lucky shopper not only managed to find BioShock early, but he got it for a steal using the deals we posted yesterday. So, here's what to do. Call your local Toys 'R' Us and see if they've got 'em and if they're selling. If it's a go, let people know about it in the comments. And if you still haven't gotten your fill of interacting with BioShock-related posts, why not check out our rad faceplate giveaway?[Update: In case you weren't sure if they were out there, check the sudden onslaught of BioShock discs clogging up eBay's tubes. Oh, and thanks to everyone that tipped us off!]Read – The Big Early Release Mix-Up (2K Forums)Read – Street date has been broken pic (seen above)Read – BioShock Early Release "Confirmed" (quotes are ours)

  • BioShock goes gold, Irrational Games becomes 2K Boston / 2K Australia

2K announced this afternoon that Irrational's beautiful underwater FPS BioShock has gone gold and will be hitting Xbox 360s and PCs on August 21st. That simple reassurance is comforting amidst the pile of delayed games we find ourselves wading through lately. But that's not all! After acquiring Irrational early last year, Take-Two has undoubtedly enjoyed the litany of critical praise the still-unreleased BioShock has enjoyed. Furthering their journey into the corporate belly of the beast, it was also announced this afternoon that Irrational Games would now be known as 2K Boston and 2K Australia. Are you worried this means that the development studio formerly known as Irrational would be artistically compromised, reduced to making movie-licensed games for hire? Ken Levine, President and Creative Director of 2K Boston, assuages all of our fears saying, "We're proud to be part of the 2K Games family and enjoy the new opportunities and artistic freedoms this strengthened relationship provides." Let's hope so. Speaking of which, what's next for Irrational 2K Boston now that BioShock is locked down?Read – 2K Announces BioShock has Gone GoldRead – Irrational Games Renamed 2K Boston and 2K Australia
