Ashley Madison, the dating website that purports to connect people looking for an affair, has been the victim of a hack that has exposed the personal data of its 37 million users. Krebs on Security is reporting that the perpetrators are a hacker or hackers going by the name of Impact Team. So far, only a small selection of information has been uploaded, but the group is threatening to post the entire haul unless Ashley Madison and sister site Established Men are shut down for good. CEO Noel Biderman has confirmed that the attack is legitimate and has pledged to take down compromising files as they're found online. Not that it's likely to be much comfort to the people waking up to find their personal details splashed across the internet.

"Edward Kenway is a raucous and bawdy chap," Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag lead scriptwriter Darby McDevitt told Polygon, "but he's also a married man, and one of his primary motivations in Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag is to get rich and prove himself a 'man of quality' to his family and betters." Kenway wants to chart a course to respectability - at least in the eyes of his time - and his tenuous marriage will serve as one of the central narrative threads in the game. McDevitt also mentioned gameplay will be "more open and free than ever before," reflecting Ubisoft's earlier missive about the game paying heed to "the older philosophy" of the series. Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag will be available on Wii U, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 on October 29, 2013.

This just keeps coming up. This time, anonymous husband "Walking on Eggshells" wrote advice columnist Amy Dickinson for help. His wife of 20 years has succumbed to the dread WoW Addiction, and is forsaking both Walking and their mutual children. Apparently, she's had an affair with a Guildmate and everything.Of course, Walking is feeling dejected, and especially burdened since he's picking up the slack around the house. He wants to get therapy, do something to help the relationship -- but his wife's just saying that he needs to love it or leave it.It's always a little frustrating as a WoW player to read about this kind of thing. My personal stance is that if they're having this kind of problem from World of Warcraft, the same would have cropped up with something else eventually. Issues like these don't appear magically on their own, wrecking houses as the login screens comes up.Amy does direct Walking to Online Gamers Anonymous. As she points out, they've got a 12 step program and everything. Well, good luck to them. I really do hope they manage to get the problem worked out. Quitting WoW can be done, but they'll need more to solve their family issues.
