Cubed3 has received a full copy of the upcoming Portrait of Ruin for the DS, the next in a seemingly endless line of 2-D portable Castlevania games (Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow). Is the best? An excerpt below:"...you will come across Brauner's magical paintings. Each of these portraits acts as a warp through to another location, such as a desert, forest and old-fashioned townscape. This works similar to how the system in Super Mario 64 did, and adds an even greater sense of exploration to the already fantastic series. It certainly does help to break up the play and prevent monotony setting in."Some interesting points of the review are the new two-character control system, and the rather short length of the game (8-10 hours). Check out the full review if you're interested in whip-cracking.

Without much fanfare, Nintendo has been setting up Wii demo stations in foreign countries and inviting members of the local press and citizenry to attend. First was the event in Spain, and recently, a similar happening in the United Kingdom.Luckily, many of us are far better at speaking English than Spanish (pero puedo comprender fácilmente), so these reports are slightly more interesting. While there isn't much in terms of new information, just about everyone has been overwhelmingly positive about our little underdog. Check out the following reports. Entertainment Wise loves the Wii Cubed3 also loves the Wii Game...yeah, they love the Wii too For our Wii-loving brethren across the salty sea, God save the queen.

  • Wii set to drop on November 6th?

You may remember us passing along a rumor last month from Cubed3 which claimed that Nintendo would be launching the Wii on November 6th; as usual, we took the info with no small amount of skepticism, but now that date actually seems to have been confirmed, and in the most unlikely of places: this month's issue of Sports Illustrated for Kids (Disclaimer: Engadget and SI for Kids are part of the same loving corporate family). Generally not known for getting the inside scoop on the video game industry, the magazine nonetheless seems confident enough in its sources to have published the supposed release date as fact without even the hint of a disclaimer, which combined with the Cubed3 info, makes us think that they might be onto something here. Obviously any deets related to the launch and pricing of this console are up in the air until the official word comes down from Japan, but with Xbox 360 already firmly entrenched and the PS3 scheduled to roll out a little later in the month, it certainly makes sense that Nintendo would be looking to leverage even the tiniest advantage.[Via Joystiq]

Cubed3 is reporting that via Japanese website Rakuten, Bomberman Land DS has been confirmed to release this year from Hudson Soft and will feature WiFi Connection implementation. There is little else that can be gleamed from the news supposedly, but with E3 coming next week, hopefully we will have more to report on then. Any kind of new multiplayer gametypes you'd like to see featured? [Thanks Thrillho and Artimus!]
