See Tyrell v. Lannister in new Game of Thrones: Genesis screens
These new screens from Cyanide's upcoming strategy release A Game of Thrones: Genesis show "the coast of Dorne where Queen Nymeria and her people landed, as well as the troops of House Tyrell confronting House Lannister," which will be exciting to ... 100 percent of the people still reading.
Steam kicks off $30 from Blood Bowl price this weekend
For those who like their fantasy football league to be significantly more fantastical, Steam has reduced the price of Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition for the weekend. The usual $40 price has been sacked, knocking it down to $10. Blitz this deal quick -- it ends on Monday and there won't be overtime.
Report: Cyanide also working on Game of Thrones RPG
Good news for fans of Westeros and its inhabitants -- not only does Cyanide have an RTS based on George R.R. Martin's fantasy series coming out, but apparently the Paris-based developer is also working on an RPG set in the world of the Song of Ice and Fire. French site FactorNews got a look at the game in development, and it sounds like just the thing to get your dire wolf howling. The title is supposed to play out around the book's events rather than follow them, but still follows the conventions of seeing various points of view. Players will start out as a brother of the Night Watch up at the Wall, then move on to play as Alester Sarwyck, a Red Priest returning to the kingdom after being exiled for 15 years across the Narrow Sea. Gameplay is described as a mix of The Witcher and other pseudo-turn-based RPGs, with players choosing skills and directing traffic in the midst of real-time battle. Cyanide is aiming for a release on both PC and consoles. It all sounds awesome -- but A Game of Thrones: The RPG (working title) isn't planned to see the light of day any time before Martin's Dance with Dragons hits bookstores. If Cyanide delivers everything it is promising in this preview, we'd be willing to pull a Jaime Lannister and kill a king just to get a copy of it.
New Game of Thrones: Genesis screens and art are awfully icy
One by one, the constituent elements of Cyanide's RTS adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire are being revealed. With today's screens, we know A Game of Thrones: Genesis will have plenty of ice -- but where's all the fire? Now that we think about it, where's all the singing?
Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition's High Elf team revealed
One of the twelve new races to be introduced in Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition is the typically cerebral High Elves, pictured below. Sorry, but they shouldn't be any good at football. Not because they're so darn brainy, but because they're built like extremely tacklable stalks of wheat.
Cyanide's first Song of Ice and Fire game detailed
Blood Bowl developer Cyanide Studio has revealed a few details about the first installment in its video game adaptation of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire novels. The game, titled A Game of Thrones: Genesis, will be a strategy title which places players in the role of one of Westeros' illustrious Families. Your options for spreading your faction's influence are diverse, including "military, economic or diplomatic" methods. Considering the developer's lineage, we hope friendly games of flag football can also be used to resolve land skirmishes. You can check out further details on Cyanide's official site for more details on the game, or check out two pieces of early concept art in the gallery below. %Gallery-97623%
SouthPeak bringing Blood Bowl to 360, PSP in 2010
The spectrum of available games distribution is wider than ever before, but we're not sure we've ever seen this exact configuration. After previously appearing as a downloadable PC game, fantasy footballer Blood Bowl will come to Xbox 360 and PSP, with an additional retail version on PC, courtesy of SouthPeak. The Warhammer-inspired game will take the field in January on 360 and PC, followed by the PSP in the more nebulous "Spring." Now's the time we turn the post over to your comments, and we can't wait to see what you have to say. We're sure someone has to be offended by this release constellation. %Gallery-81124%
THQ publishing Blood Bowl in the UK
Cyanide Studios' pigskin-'em-up set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe is coming to the UK courtesy of THQ, as the publisher has announced it will make Blood Bowl available on September 18. Initially, the title will only be available on the PC, PSP and DS, with an Xbox 360 release to "follow at a later date."
Blood Bowl trailer everything but a blood bath
We haven't seen any gameplay of Blood Bowl yet, and, sadly, this trailer is no different. It does provide us with a taste of the color commentary that will frame the many conflicts taking place in the soon-to-be-bloody bowls, though. There's even a brief look at the many different races and squads that will take to the field in this most literal fantasy football title. In terms of quantity, it looks like the amount of teams will be somewhere between a lot and a whole freakin' lot.
Blood Bowl Teaser Trailer
We're really happy to see a little more info about Blood Bowl after such a long hiatus on its news. Despite the fact that it isn't wholly original (it was a board game after all) it is of a genre that the 360 in general hasn't seen a whole lot of and plus, orcs make just about everything better.Being a bit more serious though, the trailer really doesn't show much; but how much is there really to show off in a turn-based strategy game? True, the game does have a real-time option, but we already have Madden for that and it just seems to be a betrayal of the game's roots. And just like certain other highly anticipated games, we're still waiting on a firm release date. %Gallery-15958%
Cyanide Studios unveils Dungeon Party
All the way from beautiful Paris, France comes word of a brand-new MMO. Called Dungeon Party, it's a head-to-head team battle title that will pit teams of five players against each other in a race to the bottom of a dank and dirty dungeon. Six character classes will be offered when the game launches, with equipment further customizing character looks and abilities. At the end of the race is the labyrinth's treasure horde, which players have to not only obtain - but survive to carry out of the maze. The opposing team as well as traps and monsters will block their path. The title has apparently been in-development for some time, and the developers at Cyanide Studios plan to open the game up to Beta testers this summer. Future plans include regular tournaments with 'higher intensity' dungeons and a real-time ranking system. We'll follow this game as it heads towards public playtesting later this year.
