You might not be very fond of Verizon's Ellipsis tablets, but they do serve a purpose: they're low-cost ways to get LTE data access on the road. And apparently, there are enough people buying them that the carrier is making a larger version. Evan Blass (aka @evleaks) has posted press shots of an Ellipsis 10 slate that (surprise!) translates Verizon's no-frills Android strategy to a 10-inch display. There are no details as to what's under the hood, but it's clear that this tablet should run at least Lollipop. As for the release date and price? There's nothing nailed down yet -- we're as in the dark as you are. The network has previously released Ellipsis models in early November for about $250, however, so you may well see history repeat itself.

Verizon subscribers who think that even the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is too costly now have an extra-frugal option. The carrier has just launched the previously rumored Ellipsis 7, its first self-badged Android slate. The 7-inch LTE device is no screamer with its 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 8GB of expandable storage, 1,280 x 800 IPS screen, 3.2-megapixel rear camera and basic front-facing shooter. However, it may be appealing to Google purists who've so far been denied a working Nexus 7 on Verizon -- the tablet is running a near-stock version of Android 4.2. Those intrigued by the Ellipsis 7 can pick one up starting November 7th, when it will be available for either $250 contract-free or $150 on a two-year term.

  • Verizon 'Ellipsis' Android tablet and trademark leak out, hint at a new wireless effort

Serial product shot leaker @evleaks is showing off pics of a new tablet tonight, tagged as the Verizon Ellipsis 7, 2013. It looks like a standard 7-inch Android tablet, albeit with some overly heavy bezel action, but there's little else to go on regarding where it's from and how it may arrive. The rest of the puzzle may be filled in, however, by a trademark for "Ellipsis" and "Ellipsis 7" that FierceCable dug up just a few days ago, and imagines could cover a new service / device. Filed by Verizon Wireless, the Ellipsis application covers a "wireless telecommunications device featuring transmission of voice, data, image and video", while Ellipsis 7 includes tablet computers and other wireless devices. So now we know what the hardware is called and what it looks like, but what it does is still in question. Until we find out for sure, our speculation is informed by the news Verizon is ending its wireless partnership with cable companies, rumors that it will purchase Intel's IPTV technology and the Corvair / FiOS Companion tablet that popped up last year.

  • Blood Pact: Taking care of your DoTs

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Blood Pact for affliction, demonology, and destruction warlocks. This week, Megan O'Neill admits to problems with DoT clipping (*gasp*) and finds a way to fix it. Every warlock has at least one damage over time effect to take care of. Destruction has Immolate. Demonologists flip between Corruption and Doom (Metamorphosis), though I suppose you could count Shadowflame off Hand of Gul'dan as one. Affliction is the "DoT spec," starring Agony, Corruption, Unstable Affliction, with appearances of Haunt.

Every week, WoW Insider brings you Blood Pact for affliction, demonology, and destruction warlocks. This week, Megan O'Neill does actually have 100some addon folder things in her Addon Control Panel profile. Laugh all you want; her UI is spacious and pretty to play on. I've been asked several times from either new warlocks or old warlocks who came back to the game about what addons are out there to help a PvE warlock. Recently, it's been through Twitter, which isn't exactly the best place to explain how to get the most out of your UI. Gear is one important preparation for raiding, and I've set you up with most of those considerations. Knowing your class and spec is another, and I promise, I'll get to that. But a good buff to your spellcasting techniques is a well-done user interface, so let's talk about that.

  • Addon Spotlight: Slackers, beware! RSC is on to you

Each week, WoW Insider's Mathew McCurley brings you a fresh look at reader-submitted UIs as well as Addon Spotlight, which focuses on the backbone of the WoW gameplay experience: the user interface. Everything from bags to bars, buttons to DPS meters and beyond -- your addons folder will never be the same. Are you ready to pull? The ready check says you've got the green light, people look ready, and your current raid boss stands in front of you, cruising for a bruising every moment you wait before initiating the fight. Stop. Is everyone flasked? Did everyone eat the feast? Who pre-potted on a progression encounter? Has someone dropped a repair bot that was not noticed? Are you sure that you're ready to pull? There is little more annoying than raiders giving half their effort to the team effort, 10- or 25-man raiding. It's game time, people! Stop slacking! We've got bosses to kick in the loot bags and gear to grab. Maybe with a little help from RaidSlackCheck, you can whip your cadre of nerds into shape and get these fights down at a quicker pace.
