Yoot Saito, creator of the pinball-war game hybrid Odama, has recently showed off his GameCube adventure with some Wii-centric modifications. At the Japanese media arts festival, Saito controlled the troops on screen using a Wii remote to point and click instead of the original GameCube control scheme, where troop movements were controlled via voice commands through a microphone.Does this mean we will see an Odama sequel or remake? The GameCube version met with mixed reviews, but the idea was original enough that it could warrant another try. Saito, who has previously worked on Seaman and Sim Tower, is currently working on a sequel to Seaman for the PlayStation 2 and an unnamed DS project. If Odama is making a Wii invasion, we wouldn't expect it any time soon. [Via 4cr]

Yoot Saito, the man responsible for one of the last titles made for the GameCube, Odama, recently attended the Japan Media Arts Festival and took the Wiimote out for a spin. In demonstrating how the Wiimote and nunchuk could be used to enhance the controls of previously-released titles, with his title Odama, he tells of how much more immersive the game is with the new controls.

We received far more entries for our intentionally brief Odama screenshot contest than we imagined. We've now seen more Scientology jokes (it's the one religion you're allowed to make fun of), Star Wars scenes (man you guys are nerds!), and even an MSPaint-applied wiener (you know who you are) that we think is allowable by law. In comparison, our selection was a pretty safe bet. The formula for a winning entry is as follows: Dress Tom Cruise as Link Make him crazy (note the red eyes...and Tom Cruise) Add revmote (natch) Add dialog to taste Voilá! Winning entry! Nice job RS! Odama is on its way to our great neighbor up North. A big thanks to everyone that entered our humble little contest. Keep reading to check out some more awesome (and deranged) creations from our runners-up.

Alright, smart guy (or girl)! Think you're so smart? Show us your smarts by transforming this boring screenshot of the Gamecube's latest feudal Japan-themed pinball/real-time strategy/voice command blockbuster, Odama, into something...well, something else. We'll leave that part up to you. Add voice bubbles, photoshop skillz, UFOs, whatever; just do it better than the next guy. Subtlety works, but so do Japanese tentacle monster or Mecha-Streisand invasions. Please use the enlarged version linked to the post image above and mail all completed entries in .JPG format to joystiq.applications[AT]gmail[DOT]com. Please include your address should you be chosen as super ultimate winner number one!Deadline is 11:59PM (ET) tonight, so get 'em done!

Yoot Saito, the man responsible for Seaman on the Dreamcast and upcoming Odama on the GameCube, recently spoke with Nintendo Europe, dropping hints about an upcoming game on the DS that plans to take advantage of the hardware's microphone and "network" (we assume Wi-Fi service).  Regardless of what the game's premise or controls are, we're guaranteed something unique from Mr. Saito.[Via GoNintendo]
