The ESRB has revealed a list of games that could appear on the PSN soon. All six games (as detailed in the image above) are PS1 titles that have yet to appear on the PlayStation Store. Are these the games Sony's John Koller was talking about when he said PSN was to receive more from the classics library? This list may not be the ultimate, but it's a start. With the mention of this, and Resident Evil having been loaded onto PSN yesterday, it looks like SCEA is fulfilling its promise of more PS1 classics. Here's some further information on the six titles: Contra: Legacy of War - top-down version of classic Contra shooting action Dead in the Water - Think Twisted Metal ... on water Ford Racing - Hmm, we think it may have something to do with racing Mobile Light Force - Vertical-scrolling shmup Spec Ops: Airborne Commando - More shooting action XS Junior League Soccer - Soccer!

The ESRB ratings site has once again let slip a couple of upcoming PS1 releases for the US PSN Store. Spyro 2 and Spyro: Year Of The Dragon are both listed as being approved for the PlayStation 3 and PSP. However, judging from the fact that the listings don't include rating summaries, we can assume these weren't added to the database at any point since November 2008.With titles like WipEout XL, Street Fighter Alpha 2 and 3 -- not to mention European titles on the PEGI like Vib Ribbon and Klonoa -- having been listed for months and, in some cases, over a year, we're not expecting to see these Spyro games soon. If at all. Still, it's nice to know they're already rated and ready to arrive at any time. Possibly.[Thanks, Darkdrium777]

Just one new item on the US PSN Store today, but it's a good'n. If you're an RPG fan and a retrophile then you'll no doubt be thrilled with the release of Suikoden onto the PSN Store. This great (if schizophrenic) JRPG will set you back $5.99. It's a pretty rare find nowadays, so it's good to see that it's being made available via digital distribution. This is how it should be; PS1 classics preserved in time via the PlayStation Network. Real classics. Not Reel Fishing.

So this week's Euro PSN Store update was a little bit lackluster, but at least we already have something to look forward to next week. Ubisoft has announced on its website that the original PS1 game, Driver, is on its way to the EU PlayStation Store next week. The game will be available for €4.99 or £3.49, depending on where you live. Not a bad price for what is regarded as a genuine PS1 classic. But then again, anything's better than Reel Fishing, right?[Thanks Leigh]

The PEGI (Pan-European Game Information) website has revealed another upcoming PS1 title that may be coming to the PSN within the next few months. Klonoa has been rated "3+" for the PlayStation Network. As fans of the quirky platformer (and its PS2 brother, Klonoa 2) we can't wait to see it hit the PSN Store. With the recent leaks of Vib Ribbon alongside this, it seems that SCEE are stepping up on keeping the quality level of upcoming PS1 games consistant. Let's have fewer games like Hardcore 4x4 and more memorable, top shelf PS1 games. Of course, there's no word on when this might be hitting the European store, so keep your eyes out. We're expecting to see it sometime in the next eleven and a half months. If we're lucky. [Thanks Merc25]

We've managed to get our hands on what exactly we can expect from the EU PSN Store this month. After this week's huge update, we had high hopes that this month would continue offering us some excellent content. Those hopes seem to be well founded. Check out the list of releases for the upcoming weeks. While not exhaustive, this list focuses on major, highly-anticipated playable content. Heavenly Sword demo Crash Bandicoot 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP Spyro 2 PS1 game for PS3/PSP WipEout 2097 PS1 game for PS3/PSP MediEvil PS1 game for PS3/PSP We've also heard mention of the Blast Factor expansion, Snakeball and Feel Ski but aren't certain whether these will be coming our way in July. If not, then we'll probably see them in August. Also on the horizon is news about Warhawk and the Motorstorm Coyote Weekend VIP Pass update. Oh, and in the run up to the Heavenly Sword release in September we'll be seeing five "Animated History" videos which give the game some backstory, along with some more making-of content appearing on the Store too. No doubt each week will be peppered with the normal trailers as well.

The Japanese PSN has had a veritable explosion of PS1 titles added to its collection. This puts the total number available on the Japanese Store up to twelve million or so now, we think. Hopefully we'll be seeing some more being released onto the US and EU stores in the near future. The full list of titles made available today are as follows. AI Mah Jong Selection (hamster) DEPTH (Sony computer Entertainment) Gussun Paradise (IREM software) Jet Moto (Sony computer Entertainment) Jumping Flash! 2 (Sony computer Entertainment) Major Wave Series: Puzzle Mania 2 (hamsters) Major Wave Series: Zipangu Jima: Unmei wa Saikoro ga Kimeru!? (Hamsters) Metal Slug (SNK Playmore) Oasis Road (Idea Factory) Panekit (Sony computer Entertainment) Samurai Spirits III: Zankuro Musouken (SNK Playmore) Samurai Spirits IV: Amakusa Kourin Special (SNK Playmore) Spectral Tower 2 (Idea Factory) SuperLite 1500 Series Cotton original (Success) SuperLite 1500 Series Sanvein (Success) The King OF Fighters '98 (SNK Playmore) The King OF Fighters '99 (SNK Playmore) The King OF Fighters Kyo (SNK Playmore) XI [sai] (Sony computer Entertainment) There are a total of two games in that list that, if made available, we would download. Perhaps it's best to stick with the quality-over-quantity philosophy that SCEA and SCEE have for the PS1 releases. Though having said that, perhaps there's a happy medium between the two that means we can actually get some new games at some point. [Via PSP Fanboy]

It seems like Sony Europe got a visit last night from the Ghost of PlayStation Future. "Update the European PSN Store!" the ghost would no doubt have said. "And not with one of those well-intentioned insults that consist of a couple of trailers. Give them games!" So Sony did and, seemingly, they will continue to do so for at least the next two weeks. So scared was Sony of the Ghost of PlayStation Future that they even planned to release a selection of PS1 games onto the European PSN Store, on the 22nd of June. Namely: Crash Bandicoot Medievil Wipeout Jumping Flash Syphon Filter With that, the Ghost of Playstation Future's work was done. Harmony would reign over the European continent. At least until July. The End.[Via PSP Fanboy]

Good news, my fellow PSP fanboys. I bring you tidings of yet another great franchise making its way to our beloved handheld. According to a German gaming site, Famitsu is reporting PaRappa the Rapper will be released for the PSP sometime in the future. No other details have been released, but I'm hoping for an all-new title. Possibly PaRappa 3?In the game, players must copy amazingly catchy raps by pressing the right buttons at a specific time and in correct order. Sounds kinda lame, but if you've ever played the game, you're probably like me and immediately fell in love with it. Just the thought of playing this amazing franchise on the go has me as giddy as a Japanese school girl.[Thanks Daniel][Update 1: Fixed the school-girl link so no one will get fired.][Update 2: There will be 4 player multiplayer in this "updated" port.]
