Fans of nocturnal bowling and derivative puzzle games are well-served in this week's Wii Shop PAL update. One month after Midnight Pool arrived on WiiWare and shook the gaming universe to its very foundations, development stable-mate Midnight Bowling has arrived. Oh, and it's rubbish. It's joined by revolving Zuma/Bejeweled/Magnetica Twist imitator Potpourrii, which, ironically, stinks. They're 800 Points apiece, and you can see footage of both if you go past the break. We will be amazed if more than nine people accept that invitation. Midnight Bowling -- WiiWare -- 800 Nintendo Points Potpourrii -- WiiWare -- 800 Nintendo Points Roll on next Friday, frankly.

While the weekly update to WiiWare normally presents opportunity, this week it's more notable for what you won't be doing. The first thing that's off-limits? Trying to handle Strong Bad's style. The malicious, masked midget returns this week with Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People Episode 2: Strong Badia the Free (Telltale Games, 1 player, 1,000 Wii Points). The other thing you won't be doing? Having any inkling of what Potpourrii (Abstraction Games, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points) is. Here, from its (unedited) description in the official Nintendo release: "For centuries, the seasons have followed a set pattern. But then things start to go awry in the forest. Suddenly it's snowing while the sun shines and flowers bloom while leaves are falling. Then a strange purple goo appears. The leprechauns are stunned. Even worse, the magic oak of life loses its power. It all turns out to be the fault of an evil wizard."Later, it mentions the word "puzzle," but our reading comprehension abilities were already torn asunder at that point. If you can handle it, check out an ad for the game after the break.

Look people, we don't really have a lot to work whiff here. As readers, we realize you may be incense-itive to these issues, but sometimes we bloggers aren't all a factory of witticisms and scintillating content. Sometimes you have to sigh, press on and accept that the news can be boring. Sometimes all we have to say is that a puzzle game called "Potpourrii" is coming out on WiiWare next Monday, September 15th (video after the break). While this quiet period passes, like a few drops of rain in hail, we can only ask that you laugh, endure and forgive us for all the ill-advised puns.

Studio Walljump may have just announced a WiiWare puzzler with "ii" in the title, but Abstraction Games is totally going to beat them to WiiWare with their own Wii-pun-named puzzle game, Potpourrii. Potpourrii appears to be a sort of rotating Bust a Move (a new genre that we are officially naming "Gyruss-t a Move"), but with the very important addition of a crowd of garden gnomes in the periphery of the screen.According to a statement given to IGN by Abstraction, Potpourrii is set to launch this Monday, September 15. Of course, this is assuming that Nintendo allows it. Hey, pun or not, we happen to like puzzle games, and we like paying small amounts for them, so bring the WiiWare puzzlers on.
