Not only is the 3DS no longer alone in the 3D, glasses-free handheld market -- it's not alone in having 3D, glasses-free, handheld Capcom games. The GALAPAGOS 003SH and 005SH, two new Android phones offered by Japan's Softbank mobile phone company, both have 3D screens, and Capcom has announced three games that will come pre-installed on the devices. 3D versions of the iPhone's Ghosts 'n Goblins: Gold Knights and Resident Evil: Degeneration are joined by a 3D-ified port of the first Mega Man. So it's not quite the same scale as Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and the two Resident Evil games Capcom is producing for 3DS. [Image: iPhone version of Ghosts 'n Goblins]

Capcom and Sony Pictures are subjecting victims to another CG Resident Evil movie: Damnation. The animated feature will be released in Japan in 2012 using that 3D tech the corporations are raving about. According to Capcom, the first Resident Evil CG film, Degeneration, has shipped over 1.6 million copies for home viewing and its limited "2-week / 3-screen theatrical release in Japan" grossed ¥40 million yen ($480K). Despite Resident Evil's celluloid excursions being reviled by critics, the series has made plenty of bank. Resident Evil: Afterlife 3D is currently the top movie at the box office.

We already recommend Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney without hesitation, but now we're even quicker to do so. In honor of Comic-Con (for some reason), Capcom has temporarily marked down the iPhone version of Phoenix Wright, along with several other iPhone and even iPad games. We suggest you take that! ... opportunity and pick up Phoenix Wright for just $2.99. Other highlights include the iPad and iPhone versions of Resident Evil 4 for $2.99 each, Street Fighter 4 for $6.99 and Dark Void Zero for just .99. Mega Man 2 is also just .99, if you want to hate your iPhone. See the full list of discounted games after the break. Capcom notes that Street Fighter 4, Resident Evil Degeneration, Resident Evil 4 and Phoenix Wright will go back to regular price after July 25, but offers no expiration date for the other sales. %Gallery-93496%

Don't worry, Capcom isn't delivering a poorly compressed download of the not-so-great movie to iPhone. Resident Evil: Degeneration (link goes to iTunes store) is a game based on the movie (based on the games)! Capcom's new "3rd-person survival horror shooter" features a combination of virtual d-pad controls and motion controls, including a "tilt-to-reload" feature and the ability to shake the phone to shake off zombies. The game takes place in Harvardville Airport, which just happens to have been overrun by zombies. Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield must "rescue survivors, unlock puzzles and battle an army of undead." The $6.99 download sounds like the perfect way to both pass the time and deal with your frustration when you're stuck at the airport. Unless it's also full of zombies, in which case you should use the iPhone to call 911 or something.[Thanks, lastxcallforsin]Source (iTunes link)

The PlayStation Blog has updated with word that the previously uncovered Red Bull space will be debuting in Home this week. Home-bodies will be able to take part in competitive, checkpoint-based air races within the space, and Sony has alluded to there being more Red Bull themed "events" forthcoming.Clothing brands Diesel and Linge Roset will also be getting their own dedicated storefronts in Home's Mall, something that has already taken place in Europe. If spending $.49 on designer duds isn't your thing, two Resident Evil: Degeneration T-Shirts will be added to the regular ol' clothing shop, so you can become a walking advertisement instead (and for free).%Gallery-40893%

If you read PS3 Fanboy (and we suggest you should; we're big fans of those boys), you might have heard about the direct-to-home-video and full CG movie, Resident Evil: Degeneration. We knew previously that this zombie flick that reunites RE2's Claire and Leon would be getting a release on DVD and Blu-ray, but are only finding out now (via Siliconera) that the title will also be out on UMD.The UMD version, thus far, will be available in Japan for ¥3,990 ($40.34) on December 17. The film will be brought over to North America, but it's not certain if the UMD release will make it over as well.[via Siliconera]

Beware citizens, for it would appear that the T-Virus has mutated, and has now taken to resurrecting not only the recently deceased, but also mobile platforms thought long since dead. Or at the very least irrelevant. Gamasutra reports that Capcom is bringing a game based on its upcoming CGI flick, Resident Evil: Degeneration, to Nokia's N-Gage service, which (re)launched earlier this year and is available on multiple Nokia smartphones.According to the report, the movie tie-in will feature two separate modes of play and 3D graphics designed to both show off the platform's capabilities and illustrate Capcom's "dedication to N-Gage," a fascination we imagine will blur the line between devotion and necrophilia when the title launches later this year.

Resident Evil fans know how bad the RE movies are. Hopefully Resident Evil: Degeneration -- the CG movie featuring a seven-year Claire and Leon reunion -- will pick up the pieces and make everything good again. It won't be too long before we find out the answer to that as the Sony Pictures film is set to hit stores this winter. If you're just dying to know more about this direct-to-Blu-ray film release, Blu-ray.com scored some skin-crawling details regarding the zombie flick. Video will be presented in "1.78:1 1080p AVC" which is complemented by a "5.1 Dolby TrueHD soundtrack." With specs like that, stepping into the world of survival horror won't ever be the same. In addition to that info, a full list of Blu-ray Extras can be found after the break.[Via Capcom Unity]

Comic Con 08 attendees were recently treated to a new, two-minute trailer for the upcoming CGI motion picture Resident Evil: Degeneration. The series' previous, lackluster live action installments enveloped our hard hearts in a thick shell of apprehension towards the new movie when it was first announced -- but after seeing it in action, consider said shell shucked. Not only does it look gorgeous, but it appears Leon and Claire will be voiced by Paul Mercier and Alyson Court, the two characters' voice actors from Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Veronica, respectively. It's also full of valuable Pro-Tips for those playing along at home! Shoot them in the head, eh? Thanks, Leon!

We understand that what is good and isn't good can be different from person to person, but if you enjoyed any of the Resident Evil movies, then shame on you. Sorry for being so tough, but those movies were bad. And, being the huge Resident Evil fans we are, we're finally glad to see that the wonderful universe these games are set in is being expanded through a CG movie. Sure, it's kind of biting off of Square Enix's style a bit, but who cares?! We're talking about Claire and Leon kicking zombie ass. We could only be more excited if this were a trailer for a new game.

A trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil: Degeneration movie stumbled onto the net over the weekend. Spoiler alert: There are zombies. Oh, and series stalwart Leon is there, fingerless leather gloves and all. Besides that, there's not much we can offer you in terms of plot (though we're certain it'll be full of incredibly rich characters and solid writing, just like all the other films). At least we can say the CGI looks pretty scrumtrilescent: equal parts Advent Children and ... well, zombies. Bon appétit![Thanks, Hashbrown_Hunter]

  • Capcom, Sony to produce animated Resident Evil movie

Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan today announced a collaboration that will see popular zombie extermination sim Resident Evil adapted into a full-length CG animation feature. The project, dubbed "Biohazard: Degeneration" in Japan (and presumably "Resident Evil: Finding Necro" in the West) promises "groundbreaking visual effects and a brand-new story line." Unfortunately, the rest of the press release simply yammers on about the (un)live-action dreck starring Milla what's her face.Given the reassuring lack of certain German "directors" and the decision to embrace polygons over the pasty complexions of Hollywood C-listers, you may feel inclined to allot this game-to-film adaptation some anticipation. A similar approach yielded last year's Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children which, fan service fluff aside, at least managed to be entertaining and resistant to our recently invented word, "acraptation."Biohazard: Degeneration is currently aiming for a "terrifying release in 2008."[Via FiringSquad]
