Update: Unfortunately, this one's wrong. AC/DC will not have Trophies. So there might be one good thing about Rock Band AC/DC being a disc-based release, and not a downloadable add-on pack. It seems that the game will have its own Trophies, which will apparently be "unique" and will include song-specific tasks. Hopefully that means little-to-no crossover with Rock Band 2. The news comes directly from a developer on the Rock Band forums. If you do want to earn these Trophies, however, chances are you'll need to play directly from the disc, rather than importing the tracks into Rock Band 2, but that has yet to be confirmed. Is this enough to get you to pick it up, even if you're not a great fan of AC/DC (or of Walmart)? Are you still annoyed the "game" isn't just a downloadable track pack? Vent your spleen in our comments section.[Via X3F]

Activision has announced that a new standalone game in the Guitar Hero franchise will ... wait, what? This is a Rock Band title? That's confusing. We thought Rock Band was meant to be a platform for downloadable content, but it seems that EA is taking a leaf out of Activision's book. AC/DC LIVE: Rock Band Track Pack will be available this November in the US (December for Europe) and will feature 18 master tracks from live performances. It will work as a standalone title with your current Rock Band instruments, and is priced as such. The game will set you back just south of $40.The songs, which we've listed after the break, will also be transferable to Rock Band and Rock Band 2. To do so, you'll need a song export key which, we suspect, may set you back a few dollars. The press release brags that the game includes over 99 minutes of music, but we're still uncertain whether it's worth the price for non-AC/DC fans. We'd rather the tracks were released as DLC instead.
