It might not occur to all of our readers when they see the average episode of XBLA in Brief but, let us assure you, it is a public service. We play awful, awful games so that you don't have to. Rocky and Bullwinkle is just such a game. It is -- if there can be such a thing -- the perfect storm of bad game design. The license is used horribly, the graphics aren't good, and the game employs awkward (and unresponsive) vision camera controls. The misuse of the Rocky and Bullwinkle license is perhaps the worst offense. We hate to see a classic cartoon turned into something this awful.Check out our video of us checking out Rocky and Bullwinkle (along with Battlezone) and be glad it wasn't you.[iTunes] Subscribe to X3F TV directly in iTunes.[Zune] Subscribe to the X3F TV directly (Zune Marketplace link coming soon).[RSS] Add the X3F TV feed to your RSS aggregator and have the show delivered automatically.[M4V] Download the M4V directly.

Available today (Wednesday or what we like to refer to as hump day) on the Xbox Live Arcade are two brand new games for you to try and possibly buy. First up is Atari's 400 Microsoft point remade classic Battlezone, which comes complete with a graphical overhaul, Xbox Live multiplayer support and so much nostalgia it'll make you get teary eyed. Also joining Battlezone on the XBLA today is the 800 Microsoft point Rocky and Bullwinkle that includes over 100 "micro-games" to enjoy with up to twelve players who can join the fun locally in the game's Hot Seat mode. Have a happy XBLA hump day!Read - BattlezoneRead - Rocky and Bullwinkle

Flying squirrel and talking moose news now, with fondly remembered 60's cartoon, Rocky & Bullwinkle, returning in HD on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday. The classic characters return en moose in a collection of over 100 "micro games," 25 of which use the Xbox Live Vision camera in such heart-stopping activities as "rowing a boat, "throwing darts" and, presumably, tying a noose. The anthropomorphic duo can be yours for 800 MS Points ($10).The retro theme continues with Wednesday's other revamped release, Battlezone. Atari's wireframe warfare has been given a fresh coat of paint, along with online multiplayer modes and Xbox Live Vision camera support. Be tankful that the asking price is no more than 400 MS Points ($5).%Gallery-20529%%Gallery-20538%

Heads up XBLA fanboys, there's moose, squirrel and retro tank action headed to the Arcade this week with the release of both Rocky and Bullwinkle and Battlezone this Wednesday, April 16th.For 800 Microsoft points, you can own a piece of cartoon history with Rocky and Bullwinkle, which was actually confirmed for release by Zen Studios a while back. There's a slight chance casual gamers will enjoy what moose and squirrel have to offer, but for us, we're thinking not so much. Who knows though, it could end up becoming an arcade classic. Speaking of classics, the 400 MS point Battlezone will also be available this Wednesday, complete with a visual overhaul, Xbox Live multiplayer functionality, Vision support and lots of neon green lines. Lots and lots of neon green lines. And while you're hear, dive into the Rocky and Bullwinkle and Battlezone screenshot galleries we embedded after the break.

  • Rocky & Bullwinkle/Lost Odyssey DLC Achievements

Considering that it's likely that we'll be seeing the moose and squirrel on Live Arcade next week, we really haven't seen much of the game. As an XBLA game based on an episodic TV show, Rocky and Bullwinkle's achievements reflect the style and form of a series, with references to shows and boxtops, and should be funny if nothing else. The Lost Odyssey DLC may only be out in Japan for now, but those achievement whores out there should know that the new content's achievements are mostly secret, with only a single known achievement. Which you achieve for simply visiting the dungeon that the DLC gives. With a mini-game filled, cartoon-show-inspired, XBLA game likely coming next week, and RPG DLC to wait for localization on, those achievement-obsessed gamers out there should have plenty to look forward to.The two achievement lists can be found after the break.

If you're a nostalgic Rocky and Bullwinkle fanboy who has been waiting to get your hands on the Rocky and Bullwinkle Xbox Live Arcade game, then you'll be pleased to know that your wait will only last a few more weeks.According to the fellas over at 360sync, they've talked with Zen Studios and have been informed that Rocky and Bullwinkle is scheduled for an XBLA release on Wednesday, April 16th. Which is roughly a thirteen day wait. Of course, things can change (and with XBLA release dates, they often do), but for now we'd be confident in going with an April 16th release. You silly squirrels.%Gallery-18612%

Located after the break (in their respective game galleries) are hundreds upon hundreds of screenshots for the recently confirmed for release Xbox Live Arcade games Rocky and Bullwinkle, Wits and Wagers, TiQal and Shotest Shogi. And when we say hundreds upon hundreds of screenshots, we kid you not. The bandwidth needed for all these screens would require us to be owned by a ginormous corporate company ... thankfully, we are. So, enjoy your screenshot viewing, embrace these upcoming XBLA games and eat up as much bandwidth as you can stomach.

  • Doom, Assault Heroes become $5 XBLA Hits

Perhaps, like us, you occasionally feel the urge to parade through the neighborhood, toting nothing but an impossibly huge rocket launcher and a desire to vaporize anything that, well, isn't you. And perhaps, like us, you realize (before it's too late) that these impractical desires are best expressed in video games such as Sierra Online's Assault Heroes or id Software's iconic Doom. It's certainly a lot cheaper. In fact, the two aforementioned games will be added to Xbox Live's Arcade Hits program this Wednesday, March 19th, resulting in a 50% discount to 400 MS Points ($5) each. As Microsoft is keen to point out in the same press release, your determined point pinching may just come in handy for a lineup of new titles due to arrive on Xbox Live Arcade "in the near future:"

With today's Xbox Live Arcade Hits announcement, Microsoft also felt the need to dangle a freshly baked cookie in front of our noses by revealing a few games that are headed to the Arcade soon'ish. Among the games listed in their "coming soon" checklist are Rocky and Bullwinkle, Shotest Shogi, TiQal, Wits & Wagers and Capcom's Wolf of the Battlefield: Commando 3. So, you can pretty much choose one or two of those for an XBLA release next week. We're also giving you permission to uncontrollably complain if none of those five titles tickles your Arcade fancy. On the same token, feel free to uncontrollably praise the games if you're excited for a specific title.

  • XBLA Crosswords and more Rocky and Bullwinkle

Cruising the ESRB ratings board website has produced details about a few new Xbox Live Arcade games including a crosswords game and second helping of Rocky and Bullwinkle.Developed by Konami, Coffeetime Crosswords has just been rated by the ESRB and looks to be an Arcade exclusive. We aren't sure what more one needs to say, it's crosswords on the XBLA with a hint of caffeine. Sound good? The other unannounced XBLA game comes from our friends over at Zen Studios and is Rocky and Bullwinkle. And before you begin screaming at our stupidity, this is not the previously announced The Bullwinkle Show that we mentioned last November. This is Rocky and Bullwinkle and it's something different. Though, we wouldn't be eagerly anticipating its release, as its similar cousin The Bullwinkle Show was supposed to release Winter '07 and the last time we checked ... it hasn't arrived.
