Look, we know good and well your Halloween night is already booked solid, but that's not to say you can't start getting spooked out a few days beforehand. HDNet Movies is looking to set the tone this year by debuting the horror film Splinter two days prior to its theatrical release. The flick is the feature film debut from British director Toby Wilkins, and the press release even describes it as "an exhilarating ride of jolts and laughs, and a throw back to the classic creature features of the early '70s and '80s." Sounds like the perfect way to spend an 8:00PM time slot on October 29th, yeah?

Obviously, the biggest release this week is the latest adventure starring Sam Fisher. How many of you have picked up Splinter Cell: Double Agent? If no Splinter Cell, then what will you be playing instead? Maybe some more Zelda or a multiplayer jaunt through Wii Sports?Personally, we have a great night of Wii Sports planned ourselves. Getting together with three other buddies, we plan on getting some Tennis in, as well as the group favorite that is Bowling.

The official site for Splinter Cell: Double Agent is open for business (age validation required). The site is loaded with Splintery goodness like character bios, story info, features, multiplayer info, icons, wallpapers, screens, videos, and lots of flashy, um, Flash. I think you could safely call it a plethora of goodies. The game already impressed us at E3, and I'm sure Ken and I -- like wolves -- will scrabble at every bit until it's released. Like wolves, I say. By the way, is it just me, or is Lambert starting to look a lot like Morgan Freeman? [Via Xboxic]

Ubisoft officially announced yesterday that it would be bringing Assassin's Creed to the PS3 in 2007. The game, which is set during 1191 AD amidst the third holy crusade, is being developed by Ubi's Montreal Studio, who're responsible for the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia franchises. Stating that the game will "captivate audiences and affect them on the same level as an epic novel or film," Yannis Mallat, Ubisoft's Montreal Studios' chief executive officer, seems confident that gamers will receive this title with open arms. Ubisoft's chief executive officer, Serge Hascoet, commented "Our goal to introduce three new brands into the marketplace every two years is working. With Assassin’s Creed we’re introducing a franchise that will establish itself as the must-have next-generation game for the next-generation gamer.” A trailer for the game can be viewed/downloaded at the official site here.
