Three's The One Plan serves up all-you-can-eat data in the UK
Unlimited data. No, for real this time. While US carriers are tripping over each other to claim the death of uncapped data allowances, the UK's 3G-only network operator is bringing them back like a pair of retro sneakers. Three's grandly titled The One Plan takes all limits and fair usage gotchas away and just lets you suckle bandwidth to your heart's content. And that explicitly includes tethering your phone to your laptop and using it as a 3G modem -- very classy. New and old customers will benefit from this, meaning that if you're already on this plan you're in line for a free upgrade. The offer's effective now and contracts start at £25 a month with a minimum term of one year. We'll be highly impressed if Three's network, never mind this deal, survives a full year of being bashed over the head by iPlayer streams and YouTube uploads, but here's hoping, eh?
Woow Digital's The One tablet cooks up Tegra 2 with Gingerbread just in time for Christmas
No, we can't say we've ever heard of Woow Digital before either, but we've just received some very legit-looking imagery of the company's forthcoming tablet, modestly titled The One. Google's impending Android Gingerbread release is promised as the OS, while the internal equipment includes an NVIDIA Tegra 2 core, 1GB of RAM, and 16GB of flash storage. Up front you'll find a 10-inch display spanning a 1024 x 600 resolution, while wireless connectivity is taken care of with Bluetooth, WiFi and WCDMA 3G radios built in. Woow tells us it plans to launch The One in Japan before Christmas at a price of ¥42,000 ($504), which will be followed up by availability in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Europe. Well, it had better hope that release schedule doesn't shift, because come CES 2011, we should be up to our ears in Tegra 2 tablets and phones.%Gallery-108272%
3 UK rolls out The One plan, promises not to use the word 'unlimited' when it's not unlimited
Long gone are the days when 1GB, 2GB or 5GB of data were unlimited "enough" to be called unlimited by carriers; modern phones can blaze through gigabytes just as quickly as HSPA can supply them, and companies around the world are starting to learn the lesson. In rolling out its seemingly enticing "The One" plan last week, 3 UK made an interesting and notable commitment to avoid the use of the term "unlimited" unless it really, truly applies -- and in the case of The One, it really doesn't: you get 2,000 voice minutes, 5,000 minutes between 3 UK phones, 5,000 texts, and 1GB of data for prices starting at £25 ($38) a month depending on the subsidized handset you choose. Sounds reasonable and straightforward enough, and for the overwhelming majority of users, it should be a deep-enough bucket to get the job done. [Thanks, Oli]

On ESPN the mighty Detroit Tigers face their division rival White Sox again while on Showtime you can check out Jet Li in Black Mask.Why doesn't ABC want to tell the world their shows are in high-def?
