Zune 4 / 8 won't include video out functionality
While we recently heard that the new Zunes would boast DVD quality video outputs, that will apparently not include the Zune 4 and Zune 8. Zune Insider now has it that only the flagship Zune 80 will boast outputs of 720x480 at 30fps or 720x576 at 25fps without transcoding, and the two flash-based siblings will be going sans TV out altogether. Firmware code hints at video output
Sony's software developers seem to include hints at upcoming features months in advance. Skype-like VoIP functionality was discovered months ago ... and that feature is only now being unveiled. By looking at some code stored in firmware 3.50, undertaxxx from MaxConsole has unearthed a small reference to "videoout." Could the PSP finally be getting a way of outputting images to a television? From the looks of this hidden icon, it appears so. It's not like Sony hasn't considered this functionality before ...[Via PlayStation]
PSP survey suggests redesign
Well, would you? Sony recently sent a survey to select members of its GAP community polling them on various features for the PSP. This is unsurprising: they've done this quite a number of times before. However, this is the first time the language has suggested a redesigned PSP: would you buy another PSP, just like the hordes of DS owners that threw out their Phats in exchange for the lovelier Lite? Personally, I think the PSP's design is good just the way it is, and being an owner of a 4GB Memory Stick makes me not care too much about a hard drive. However, video out is very important to me. Why? Well, then I can finally give you guys some direct-feed PSP footage. What about you, ye faithful PSP fanboy? [Via IGN Boards] [Update 1: Our readers have voted!
