As if you haven't had enough Vista-equipped lappies thrown your way, here's another one to mull over if you're digging the ultralight composition and the built-in optical drive. Fujitsu's latest LifeBook sports a sleek, black and silver enclosure, the standard array of multimedia controls, a 13.3-inch LCD, and the obligatory palm rest stickers to boot. Internally, you'll find an AMD Sempron 3200+ processor, 1GB of RAM, 100GB of hard drive space, dual-layer DVD burner, and Windows Vista Home Premium pre-installed. Additionally, you can reportedly expect around 3.4-hours of battery life from the six-cell battery, and if you won't need the skills of your DVD writer for the day, you can whittle the weight down to around 3.6-pounds. No word on price, but for those camped out in Seoul, keep an eye out for the S2210 to land soon.

You know what they say, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, and apparently Gateway has latched onto said mantra and has quietly dished out a new computer on both the desktop and laptop sides, each fully equipped with Windows Vista. The $499.99 (and up) DX430-series desktop ups the ante from the DX420 by offering Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 / E6300 processors, 1GB of RAM, 160GB hard drive, 15-in-1 flash card reader, a DVD writer, Intel's GMA X3000 integrated graphics set, a micro ATX chassis, and up to 22-inches of LCD real estate to compliment the machine. In the portable realm, the $699.99 NX270S (pictured after the break) packs a 14.1-inch WXGA widescreen LCD, Intel Celeron 430 CPU, 512MB of RAM, 60GB hard drive, and a combo drive as well. Additionally, you'll find a copy of Vista Home Basic, a trio of USB 2.0 ports, 4-in-1 media card reader, WiFi, 56k modem jack, and Ethernet. Both of these budget-friendly systems aren't out to set any benchmark records, but they should handle the most basic of Vista demands fairly well, and considering the low starting price points on each, your wallet (and SO) will be greatly appreciative.[Via PCMag]

If you somehow managed to skim through the CES mayhem and notice this gem, chances are it immediately landed on your wish list, and if you're looking for an ultralight, well-spec'd, EV-DO-equipped convertible tablet, here's your chance. The Portégé R400 was peeked, revealed, cuddled, and reviewed, but now the time has finally come for you to lay claim to your own. Hitting Toshiba's webstore for a (slightly steep) base price of $3,149, this unit packs an energy-efficient 1.2GHz Intel Core Duo U2500 processor, Vista Ultimate, 2GB of RAM, 12.1-inch LED-backlit LCD, XGA resolution, Intel's GMA950 integrated graphics set, WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, fingerprint scanner, gigabit Ethernet port, built-in microphone / mono speaker, headphone out, six-cell Li-ion battery, PCMCIA, and a pair of USB 2.0 connectors. You'll also find a bevy of Microsoft and Toshiba software pre-installed, and while it only tips the scales at 3.79-pounds, you'll have to lug around an external optical drive if you need to spin any discs. But hey, at least you've got a tick to think things over, as it looks like even today's orders won't ship "for one to two weeks."
