One half of tomorrow's Wednesday's Xbox Live Arcade twofer releases will be the classic Yie Ar Kung Fu and it will be featuring a small makeover. Viewable in the gallery below are a few comparison shots of Yie Ar Kung Fu from its classic days and the updated sprites and backgrounds used in the XBLA version. You should be able to tell the noticeable graphical differences (unless you are missing your eyes, but then how would you be reading this? Hmm ...), but it's up to you to decide if you're liking the "new and improved" or the retro look. Though, we think we can all agree that the flying chubby man roxorz. Coming straight from E3 is confirmation of another Xbox Live Arcade double header next week with both Bomberman Live and Yie Ar Kung Fu releasing Wednesday, July 18th. Bomberman Live will feature (literally) tons of bombing excitement and fully customizable bombers for only 800 Microsoft points, while the mysteriously missing from Xbox.com Yie Ar Kung Fu will be available for a more modest 400 Microsoft points. And please fanboys, please pray to God that Hudson didn't muff up our classic Bomberman as we all can agree that Act Zero was a horrible attempt at entertainment.

Yie Ar Kung Fu was announced for the Japanese Xbox Live Arcade during the last Tokyo Game Show. Microsoft announced the title as part of their fabulously successful initiative to lure Japanese gamers towards the Xbox 360. Unfortunately, the game was announced as a Japanese Arcade exclusive.Kung Fu fans rejoice then, as Yie Ar Kung Fu has popped up on the ESRB website. If you've been paying attention lately, ratings websites like the ESRB have become marvelous predictors of upcoming Live Arcade titles. They let us know about Eets and Luxor 2 before they were announced, for example. So, for now it's still a rumor, but the likelihood of Yie Ar Kung Fu coming to the U.S. Arcade is pretty high. Also uncovered on the ESRB website is a title called Aegis Wing. We have no idea what it could be, though there are theories. Anyone out there excited about getting their Kung Fu on?[Via Evil Avatar]

Yesterday we mentioned that an new franchise was to be announced for XBLA sometime during all this TGS/X06 hullballoo. We even asked all of you for your best guess. Well, it looks like we got our anwer sooner rather than later, and the answer will most likely be a disappointment to many. In total, four new franchises have been announced, and they are: Gyruss New Rally-X Rush'n Attack Yie Ar Kung Fu (Japan only) While these games are a welcome addition (especially Rush'n Attack), it falls well short of our hope for original content -- or even an XBLA specific entry to a classic franchise. We hold out hope that a real contender will emerge before all is said and done. But, on to business. We said we'd name drop whoever guessed right and ... oh, wait ... nobody got it. In that case, we'll just give the Perv of the Week Award® to reader, AOE, for suggesting Boon-Ga Boon-Ga "complete with custom controller." Sick, man. Just sick.360 at the Tokyo Game Show:Today's TGS Marketplace contentHD-DVD for $170, $250 Core w/ Blue Dragon1080p for 360!
