Xbox Live Arcade doesn't have much in the way of dungeon crawlers, with the possible exception of Gauntlet, which isn't really a dungeon crawler. Enter Arkadian Warriors from Sierra Online and Wanako (Assault Heroes). Arkadian Warriors aims to fill the gap in Xbox Live Arcade's roster. Honestly, we're a little surprised no one jumped on this genre before, as it's really a pretty good fit for Live Arcade. We took the trial version of the game for a spin, read on for some detailed impressions.%Gallery-11772%

Today, the Xbox Live Arcade's game library has been expanded with the release of two brand new Arcade games. First up is Wanako's Arkadian Warriors which is a dungeon crawler that features a rich character development system, a random dungeon generator and local or Xbox Live co-op play all for 800 Microsoft points. This week's other Arcade gem is the extreme stunt racer Gripshift which features 120 single player challenges, 20 death match arenas and complete Xbox Live versus support all for 800 points. Both games are available for trial or purchase this very moment, so get on getting and download away.Read - Gripshift releaseRead - Arkadian Warriors release

  • This Wednesday: Arkadian Warriors get a GripShift on XBLA

It would be downright deceptive to describe this week's Xbox Live Arcade games as anything other than shifty. Though GripShift makes that stance fairly obvious, perhaps you weren't aware that Arkadian Warriors features a trio of shape-shifting warriors... from Arkadia. You know, a typically hapless fantasy realm in need of saviors skilled at hacking, slashing and a variety of other violent maneuvers. The co-op capable romp through randomly generated dungeons will set you back 800 MS Points ($10), roughly the equivalent of what you'll find in the unseen pockets of a slain monster. If monster mashing isn't your thing, perhaps you'll be tempted to speed down GripShift's tumultuously twisty tracks. They're also suspended in mid-air, making for a gravity-defying thrill ride every racing fan must experience (it says here)! As you might expect, said experience is preceded by that of spending 800 MS Points ($10) -- if not for those lovely trial versions, that one would take you for an entirely different kind of ride.%Gallery-11579% %Gallery-11578%

After Microsoft deprived us of new Xbox Live Arcade gaming last week they're trying to redeem themselves by offering up two XBLA games this week. They must really feel bad. Releasing to the Arcade on Wednesday, December 12th will be both Sidhe Interactive's GripShift and Wanako Games' Arkadian Warriors each for 800 Microsoft points. We know a select few of our fellow fanboys have been eagerly awaiting GripShift and some even Arkadian Warriors, so this Wednesday those select few shall be super, super happy. Anyone willing to commit to spending 800 points on either title or will a trial be necessary?

In a press release announcing the Fall Update's Xbox Live Arcade Hits program, Microsoft also announced the next few months' upcoming Xbox Live Arcade games that are scheduled for release. As things stand right now, the next XBLA games to get released are Arkadian Warriors, Brain Challenge, GripShift, N+, Omega Five, Poker Smash, Rez HD and Sensible World of Soccer. No specific release schedule for each game has been confirmed just yet, but it's always nice to see what's headed down the old XBLA pipeline. And this list also lets us officially get excited for N+ and Rez HD. A big w00t to that!

  • Sierra Online details upcoming PC, XBLA lineup

Vivendi Games' Sierra Online division has revealed a number of details concerning its lineup of XBLA and PC releases throughout the remainder of the year, including a number of previously announced titles as well as two new games, one where you get to shoot aliens (pictured) and another where you..well...play with bunnies. Earlier this year following the appointment of XBLA's former portfolio lead Ross Erickson to Sierra Online we predicted that the company had big plans for the downloadable space, and given the breadth of today's announcements that assumption looks more correct than ever. The two new titles announced today include a particularly interesting sounding "third person retro-arcade shooter" called Aces of the Galaxy, where players man the turret of an AI-driven spaceship to shoot down waves of bad guys, and the strangely titled Boogie Bunnies, where players will match up colorful rabbits in a "match-three puzzle game." Both of these will arrive for both the PC and XBLA this winter. In addition, Sierra confirmed that Wanako Studios' top-down XBLA shooter Assault Heroes will make the move to retail shelves and unspecified digital download services for the PC for $19.99 on October 23. The earlier acquired Latin American studio is also developing the hack-and-slash dungeon crawler Arkadian Warriors (formerly called Artemis Warriors), which will launch this fall from Sierra for the PC and over XBLA, though we hope that this time they'll manage to get multiplayer working from day one.

If you're planning your next XBLA purchases for the next few months then be sure to not count out Sierra's upcoming library of games, because they actually look promising. The crew over at IGN got some hands on time with all six, count 'em six, of developer Sierra's new games that are set to release on the Xbox Live Arcade this Winter. So, enough of the fluff let's get to the goods. Sierra's bountiful and very diverse Winter XBLA lineup includes a 3D space shooter called Aces of the Galaxy, a mystical hack, hack, slash slasher called Arkadian Warriors, the TV based Battlestar Galactica, a puzzling bunny game called Boogie Bunnies, a casual gamer's RTS Commanders: Attack of the Genos, and finally Switchball. See, we told you it was a diverse group of games. You can check out IGN's hands-on take of each Arcade title as well as screenshots and video from each game after the jump. And with such an interesting lineup of adventure, sci-fi, shooter and action based games we can't help but be most excited to play Boogie Bunnies. Dancing bunnies ... what more can we say?
