Blackfallow ink trade-ins end after Tuesday's maintenance
Many people didn't know that Blackfallow Ink could still be traded after patch 5.0. Well they can ... until tomorrow after maintenance. A hot fix is planned so that ink traders will accept Ink of Dreams and sell Starlight Ink. Nethaera Beginning after the maintenance on Tuesday, October 9, ink traders will be converting from accepting Blackfallow Ink to accepting Ink of Dreams and Starlight Ink will become available for purchase. If you're still holding on to your Blackfallow Ink, your time to trade it in is running short. source To reiterate, this change will not be in a patch: Nethaera Posted by Baillan Is there an answer for my question on whether it is a hotfix or a client patch? Ink traders still accepting Blackfallow Ink

The ink traders you find near inscription trainers allow you to buy any lower-level common ink you might need for the price of one current ink. Glyphs take a variety of inks, and if you want to craft one, you're more likely to need ink from some earlier expansion than you are a current ink. In Wrath of the Lich King, we were trading in Ink of the Sea. In Cataclysm, we've been trading in Blackfallow Ink. In Mists of Pandaria, including patch 5.0.4, we'll be trading in Ink of Dreams -- or at least the tooltip at the ink trader would have you believe.

Because I'm an egotistical jerk who has only been made even more insufferable by the blazing Los Angeles sun, I'm going to start this Queue off by answering a question about myself. @thebmatt asked: I just saw on @WoWInsider you [Fox] won't be writing the Shadow priest column anymore. True?
Ink traders come to Stormwind, Orgrimmar in patch 4.0.6
Those of us who make Darkmoon decks will no longer have to park our scribes in Dalaran to access the ink trader there, because patch 4.0.6 will bring with it the addition of ink traders in Stormwind and Orgrimmar. Now, aside from changing an alchemist's proc specialization, there's no reason to move any crafting character out of the main cities! Bashiok Ink Traders are being added to Stormwind and Orgrimmar in 4.0.6. source The ink trader used to be the center of every glyph maker's business. Now that the traders only take the somewhat more expensive Blackfallow Ink, they're mostly used as a way to create more Inferno Ink. I also sometimes use them to trade Blackfallow Ink in for lower-level, common inks when I need them for glyphs, but that's only when my stocks of old-world herbs dry up. Insider Trader: Inscription heads into Cataclysm
Insider Trader is a column about professions by Basil "Euripides" Berntsen, who also writes Gold Capped about how to make money using the auction house. Email Basil your questions. Inscription is going to be going through some changes in Cataclysm. We've already had a pretty massive overhaul in patch 4.0 with the changes to glyphs, but we're in for some more after the expansion ships. Obviously, the mats we use will change: the new common pigment from milling is Ashen Pigment (for BlackFallow Ink), and the uncommon one is Burning Embers (for Inferno Ink). Kaliope, who I've come to rely on for beta profession information, informs us that the best herb to get the Burning Embers from is Twilight Jasmine, found in the Twilight Highlands. As in Wrath of the Lich King, we will be able to trade the common inks for the uncommon ones; Jessica Sellers has updated her price list to accept Blackfallow Ink. It's going to be a single Blackfallow for a single older ink, as well as 10 for an Inferno Ink or Snowfall Ink.
Patch 4.0.3a kills ink trader, reinstates missing glyphs
Jessica Sellers no longer accepts Ink of the Sea for lower-level inks. If you want to make, say, the Glyph of Mage Armor, you'll need to mill Outland herbs to be able to make Ethereal Ink. Speaking of that glyph, it's been uncraftable since 4.0.1 and is now available on the trainer. It's going to be a pain to collect mats to make it, however. Still, as one of the more desirable glyphs for mages, it's likely to find buyers, even if Outland herbs are expensive and hard to find. So what is Jessica looking for these days? Why, nothing other than Blackfallow Ink! It's not yet available in game from any source, so until Dec. 7 when Cataclysm launches. A word to the wise: if you have an herbalist and want to spend a few weeks making cash hand over fist, farm for old-world herbs. Check the "milled from" tab on the following pigments to get a hit list: Emerald Pigment for Jadefire Ink Golden Pigment for Lion's Ink Silvery Pigment for Shimmering Ink Violet Pigment for Celestial Ink and of course, as I said above, Nether Pigment for Ethereal Ink It's a little unfortunate that all these new players who are coming back are going to have to deal with low supply and weird pricing on the glyphs they probably want to try out; however, it's always possible that Blizzard will revert Jessica to her previous state of accepting Northrend inks.
