Three new galleries have been added to the official website, this time to feature Blizzard costumes. The galleries highlight recently-featured cosplayers in addition to contest winners and honorable mentions for costume contests from the Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo franchises. Although the galleries are a little small for now, more costume photos will apparently be added over time. Each of the galleries show winners all the way back to the first BlizzCon in 2005, so they're well worth the look. It's kind of cool to see how costumes and cosplay in general have progressed over time in terms of materials, construction, and detail. Hopefully we'll see other contestants past added soon as well -- costumes are always one of the coolest parts of BlizzCon, so it's nice to see them finally recognized with galleries of their own.

Another BlizzCon, another great costume contest. A huge number of wonderful costumes were on display tonight. Planning to cosplay at BlizzCon 2013? Registration for the BlizzCon 2013 Costume Contest is now open. Should you wish to compete, do not delay signing up a moment longer. There are a limited number of slots (a mere 100) which will be filled first come, first serve. Be sure to read the contest rules before you sign up, though. The rules have changed over the years, making certain types of costumes ineligible for entry. There are much tighter restrictions on how big your costume can be this year, and the BlizzCon organizers would really like it if you could walk up a few stairs in the dark without assistance. After you sign up, you should receive an e-mail confirmation that your submission has been received. You won't know right away if you've secured yourself a slot, however, so just keep your fingers crossed and stay patient. And should you not get into the contest initially, there is still hope! In the months and weeks approaching the convention, some entrants may drop out of the contest and open up a slot for you. Good luck! So, any WoW Insider readers planning to cosplay at BlizzCon 2013? What are you hoping to go as? If you need some inspiration, check out some of our costume galleries from previous BlizzCons.

There are many great costumes to see on the attendees at every BlizzCon. From the intricate to the homemade, the creativity and passion on display is always stunning to behold. In fact, we've already snapped pictures from the first day of the con spotlighting this year's show stoppers. However this time, G4 didn't wait for the hordes of BlizzCon attendees to descend on Anaheim to get their cosplay gallery together. Instead, they assembled some of most well-known costumed fans in advance of the big convention and shot a gallery showing off their amazing outfits. Women profiled this year include last year's Diablo III monk winner in the costume contest, Christina Sims, Jo-Jo Chen who runs an agency for costumed models and many more. Check out the full shoot over at G4. The news is out -- we'll be playing Mists of Pandaria! Find out what's in store with an all-new talent system, peek over our shoulder at our Pandaren hands-on, and get ready to battle your companion pets against others. The BlizzCon costume contest took place yesterday afternoon with roughly 90 entries (give or take a few, depending on how you count group efforts). We did have a screenshot of one entrant in black that was unfortunately too dark to include, but this is an otherwise comprehensive gallery of all contest entrants, the five finalists and winner. There were a number of extraordinary costumes this year, and we highly recommend giving them a look. However, I think Jay Mohr was correct in observing that it's only a matter of time before someone's going to topple over on digitigrade stilts. Please, folks -- it's okay to suffer for your art, but it's not okay to break your ankles over it! The five finalists (you'll find them toward the end of the gallery) portrayed Ysera, the female monk from Diablo III, Jaina Proudmoore, the female witch doctor from Diablo III, and Illidan Stormrage. The eventual winner was Christina Estrada as the female monk. %Gallery-105850% BlizzCon 2010 is upon us! WoW Insider has all the latest news and information. One of the best parts of every year's BlizzCon are the costumes worn by attendees. BlizzCon 2010 is no different. You can hardly go a few feet without seeing a character seemingly right off the battleworn world of Azeroth. Costuming is truly my favorite part of BlizzCon since it offers an experience you can't get anywhere else. Check out our gallery repeatedly through the day, as your intrepid WoW Insider staff continues to gather images of these awesome costumes. We've also included the previous galleries of costumes in the lines and convention center so that you don't miss anything. %Gallery-105831% %Gallery-105820% BlizzCon 2010 is upon us! Last night at BlizzCon featured the string of contests (costume, sound-alike, and dance), hosted by Jay Mohr. The costume contest was pretty spectacular at times, and I don't want to spoil it, but I was definitely rooting for the winner as soon as I saw him or her. Watch the contest above, and enjoy! It's times like this that make me realize what a wonderful community WoW has. BlizzCon 2009 is here!
